Hey!

[edit]

How's it going? I wonder how much longer abesha.com's going to be down. Hopefully you can help improve Wikipedia's coverage of Ethiopian history and other Ethiopian topics. Unfortunately, I won't be able to contribute as much as before due to school starting, but I'm sure you can help counter that. — ዮም | (Yom) | TalkcontribsEthiopia 18:10, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try to do my best! :D And I hope abesha.com will be up soon! :D I think we can also gather some infos from there and add them to wikipedia in some way or another... I'm also quite busy these days! So I don't know how much I can do. At the moment I'm concentrating more on the German version of Wikipedia. --Tiqur Anbessa 19:22, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have your email offhand, but you can email me by simply clicking (Yom) in my signature. It's a link that will allow you to email me through Wikipedia (and then I'll have your Email address, so I can reply back). — ዮም | (Yom) | TalkcontribsEthiopia 16:45, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I did get it, but I've been so busy that it slipped my mind. I'll try to email you this week, but really I probably won't be able to give you a good reply until Sunday night. — ዮም | (Yom) | TalkcontribsEthiopia 19:53, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Possible renaming of Wikipedia:WikiProject Saints

[edit]

It has been suggested that the above named project be renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Christian saints. Please express your opinion on this proposed renaming, and the accompanying re-definition of the scope of the project, here. John Carter 17:27, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help With "Gedamu Woldegiorgis" Wiki Page

[edit]

Hello Tiqur Anbessa,

My name is Yodit and I am trying to start a Wiki Page to outline my grandfather's contributions to Ethiopia in Education, Politics, and Religion. His name is Gedamu Woldegiorgis. I recently went on an a mission to return his body to his birthplace in Adizero-Senai (an area in Shire, Tigray). When we arrived we were met by priests from 5 churches within a 40 km radius of Indeselassie. It was AMAZING. The people came out in the hundreds to see him buried and gave him a full military 10 gun salute for his contribution to the development of Shire and Ethiopia. They presented me with a copy of his book "Ye Ityopia Sim Enna Kibur" as well as photographs of him, and articles written in the old Ethiopian Newspapers regarding his life and bio. People stood up and gave speeches to commemorate his life and we were blessed to have gotten all of it on tape! So, I can present video footage to evidence his background, but given that we are talking about a man who was actively in parliament in the 1930s and the Derg did a good job of destroying our written history from that period, it is hard to find secondary sources to back up his biography. I have a photocopy of the article that was written containing his bio, but I don't know how reliable that is in the eyes of Wiki. Can you tell me how to best proceed with establishing a wiki page in his name. I have submitted the following with one secondary source, a historical article written on the Development Association of Shire in North America website. Please see the below link of the draft that is pending approval. Any advice that you can give would be greatly appreciate.
