Re: Manatee Palms Youth Services DYK

Have a little patience. In order to prevent starvation, hooks for older qualified articles are generally given preference over brand new nominations to the DYK suggestions page. Despite the article having only been nominated today, the nomination for Manatee Palms Youth Services has already been checked and looks good for a Main page appearance. Hi there. The article is highly notable, as it is a Canadian electoral district. Six articles had dead links to it already, so I created it. It is not in good shape, but it is notable, and is part of the Canadian Politics portal (when I get finished linking to it). Why did you delete my article. I was just in the process of adding the first citation to it. Not pleased at all. I am a very experienced Wiki editing, and have started many articles this way. Replaceable fair use File:MPYS hospital.jpg

I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

I assume you saw my note at DYK as to the lede; just wanted to make sure, though. Maintenance tags

I've removed some of the maintenance tags you added David Segal. 14 tags in addition to all the inline ones you added is excessive and more likely to put people off reading the article at all than encourage them to improve it. Several of them duplicated each other too. Please don't add that many tags to an article in future, consider using tags to address the most serious issues and then discussing the problems specifically on the article talkpage.--BelovedFreak 00:09, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

That's charming. Don't warn me for vandalism for removing a prod template. Per Wikipedia:Proposed deletion, "If any person objects to the deletion (usually by removing the {{prod}} tag), the proposal is aborted and may not be re-proposed." Dear sir or madam: It might seem that you have taken it upon yourself to go on a crusade against me and what I have posted in good faith. I know you're trying to do the right thing for the Wikipedia community, but I wish you would help, make suggestions, or at least point me in the right direction rather than dump on what I have done. First you flag Charlotte Centre Curling Club for deletion, then after I make very good points as to notability, you flag it for speedy deletion. Then you leave a nasty-gram on my talk page about too many links which I am guessing is for List of curling clubs in the United States. If someone posts something and does not cite it, then they get beat-up for it. So I work for hours and hours on list to replace the very incomplete and out-of-date list that preceeded it and cite it as completely and throughly as I can and I then get beat-up for citing too much? If one web site is a cite for many items on a page that is a list such as the one mentioned above, then should I not cite it as many times as applicable? Looking for Wikipedia Ambassadors

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you are listed as a Wikipedian in Boston. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at schools in Boston and Cambridge, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you live near Boston and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.

If you're an experienced and active Wikipedian, you might be interested alternatively in becoming an Online Ambassador. The role of Online Ambassadors is to serve as mentors for students; it doesn't require any in-person outreach. Take a look at the Online Ambassador guidelines; the "mentorship process" describes roughly what will be expected of mentors in the coming term. If that's something you want to do, please apply!

You can find instructions for applying at WP:ONLINE. The main things we're looking for in Online Ambassadors are friendliness, regular activity (since mentorship is a commitment that spans several months), and the ability to give detailed, substantive feedback on articles (both short new articles, and longer, more mature ones).
