@Toddy1 Can you please help to improve the article P. Shanmugam (CPIM)? XYZ 250706 (talk) 15:02, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Do you understand the Tamil language? -- Toddy1 (talk) 15:04, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No. I don't understand Tamil language. I can use Google translator. But sometimes it can cause problems for me as I don't know the language. XYZ 250706 (talk) 17:17, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest that you revert these edits. I know you meant well, but you made the situation worse. If you want to withdraw a comment you made, the correct approach is to apply strikethrough:
*:Indian media tend to publish less coverage for Left parties. You can check the press independence rank of India. Vachathi case was mainly led by leaders of CPIM and its organisations. https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/tamil-nadu/vachathi-a-tribal-hamlets-road-to-justice-paved-over-the-course-of-31-years-amid-hurdles/article67361410.ece/amp/ XYZ 250706 (talk) 07:51, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You implement strikethrough by adding <s> at the start, and </s> at the end.-- Toddy1 (talk) 15:12, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. One more thing I want to add here that I added multiple sources after the last source analysis in the discussion. Don't you think that the article has more than 3 sources towards GNG (the minimum requirement)? I am not wanting to influence you comment in AfD. I am just wanting your opinion. XYZ 250706 (talk) 17:21, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I can see that you made significant changes between 22 and 27 January.[1] I also noticed that citation templates lack important features such (a) date of publication, (b) the work, (c) authors if known. "The work" means the name of the newspaper, magazine, website, etc. that the article appeared in. If there is a Wikipedia article on "the work", it helps a lot to Wikilink it, because that way readers can know what kind of publication it is, and therefore judge its independence from the subject and its reliability. If an article has a non-English title, there is a useful field called "trans-title" in the template to add a translation of the title (we still want to know the title in the original language, and that goes in the the "title" field").
It requires many hours of work to go through the article fixing problems with citation templates, and I do not have the spare time to do this.-- Toddy1 (talk) 19:30, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

P. Shanmugam draft

[edit]

I think the draft is now pretty much ready to move back to mainspace, correct? Copy-editing cleaned up, refs more structured. As for notability, I note that when Google News searching "பெ. சண்முகம்" quite a few recent news stories from past 2-4 days pop up (on Shanmugam commenting political issues, speaking at meetings, etc.). -- Soman (talk) 11:06, 5 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have asked the admin who closed the AFD to review the draft, and he/she has agreed to review it.-- Toddy1 (talk) 15:03, 5 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You should be all set. Left a longer note on article Talk for any other interested parties now or in the future. Thanks for the thorough job @Soman and for flagging this @Toddy1 Star Mississippi 01:48, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
