succession boxes

Thanks for the boxes. I have added them when working on Senators. Right now I'm trying to disambiguate names and fill in at least a bio stub for the 3rd Congress. I've stayed away from the boxes since I want to get something clear (at least in my own mind) before dropping them all over Congressmen. Here's my problem:

Redidstricting happens about every ten years (new census data).Someone with a thirty year career could have four boxes without ever moving. So, did he really follow Congressman X? For those cases with interrupted terms of office, fine. But, in general, I'd like to see Representative, rather than U.S. House, Colorado 3rd district. I just haven't figured out how to state a clear and concise rule. This is longer than needed, but I'd like to have a few fellow political history junkies join in my confusion. Misery does love company. Thanks for the thought, Lou I 12:52, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

This template should not be deleted. Go to the Page where the consensus's are placed and see my rationale there. I hope that we can reach a consensus and it be kept, of course, it can be edited to suit the both of our needs. Эрон Кинней 22:34, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

MONGO RfA

Well, as a Maryland alumni, I really appreciate the time you took to give me your support vote and for your kind words. I agree, I think things were blown out of proportions, but I know myself better than some of those that opposed, so I can understand their fears to a degree. It should be well known to you that if there is ever anything you need, to never hesitate to ask and I'll do everything I can! Thanks again, Tom! Go Terps!--MONGO 05:18, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

Cheers

Like MONGO above, I come here with thanks for your support on my succesful RfA. Whilst I've seen your name quite a lot, we've not really had proper contact and it is nice on my part to find this instance being the first time I contact you. Please do keep an eye on me and my logs, especially while I'm learning the ropes with the new buttons, and if there's anything you need help with, dojn't hesitate to ask. 2005 AHS page

Tom -

If you want to have your table version become the actual one, then please set up the table and articles and try to implement it. Or to put it another way, "Be bold". I am happy to back you up on this, and to see where the effort leads. At the least, it will force the others to consider how they want the page to be shortenned. The consensus is to pare it down. What is up in the air is how. --EMS | Talk 02:24, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

Recent block

It looks liked we happened to block User:Windemere Wally at the same time, but my block is only 24 hours and I guess it was entered first. I have not looked at this user's contributions at length yet, so if you feel that the longer block is justified, let me know so I can reblock for longer. Thanks :-) --HappyCamper 03:58, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

Okay, we'll block for 48+24=72 hours then. I found some of his edits quite disruptive; considering that s/he knew about the AfD process and was bold enough to revert my changes there, I think this user does not have an intention of contributing positively on Wikipedia. --HappyCamper

My Signature

You asked me to change my signature to {{subst:Template:User:Super-Magician/Signature}}; however, that template has another link to my other template, {{Template:User:Super-Magician/Signature_full}}. I understand that doing so reduces the load on the Wikimedia servers, but if you look at the "Signature full" template, you'll see that it is (almost) a copy of {{Template:User2}}. There is a lot of text in this template, and I don't want to clutter up the editing box with all of this stuff. — Super-Magician (talk contribs count) ★ 15:40, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

Bush approval ratings

Hi Tom,

Can I have a graph of Bush's approval ratings for the last one year which is similar to the one feb 2001 - oct 2005. I need it for a school project.

My email ID is mukund.bs@gmail.com

Thanks a lot.

Regards, Mukund.

approval rating chart

please update the president's current place in the polling if possible.

I'll update it once all the numbers for November are placed on the site I use (it's linked to in the image description). --tomf688{talk} 04:12, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

An editor tagged this image of [1] as unverified, but you had previously tagged it as fair use (it was removed by vandalism). However, you provided no rationale for fair use. If you can, please pick a more specific fair use tag from the fair use tags or provide a rationale on the image page. Let me know if you need help. Nsevs 05:00, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Thank you, Tomf688, for supporting my RfA - it was quite a ride, and I'll do my best as an admin to help make the dream of Wikipedia into a reality! BD2412 T 07:28, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Proofread

I am getting closer on Shoshone National Forest and am trying to get it up to FA status...a second set of eyes would be helpful if you care have a looksie. I have to greatly expand the biology and tourism sections and will do so over the next few days. Anyway, if you're interested, any pointers would help and or a mention on the associated talk page too. Thanks!--MONGO 11:52, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I'll be busy on it off and on over the weekend. Hope to upload a few more images and whatnot and do the expansions I mentioned so don't hesitate to edit as you see fit...think it has a shot at the title?--MONGO 12:33, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the imput...it's still very much in progress so it may be a couple of weeks yet before I toss it into the fire. --MONGO 13:58, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

So, I'm an admin

Hi Tom,

Thank you very much for your support on my RfA. It did very well and finished with a vote of 70/1/2! If I can ever help with anything or if you have any comments about my actions as an admin, please let me know! Thank you once again! – NSLE (T+C+CVU) 06:14, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Gas Chamber

Per the Gas Chamber article you left me the following message: "This image was not created by the U.S. Federal government. I have tagged it as having no source, and it will be deleted in seven days unless the source is provided. --tomf688{talk} 12:36, 13 December 2005 (UTC)"

You may find the image at the following site: http://www.corr.ca.gov/CommunicationsOffice/CapitalPunishment/death_row/sq06.asp It is listed as free to use by the media, and the image has been appropriately labeled on Wikipedia as "by the State of California." I fail to see the reasoning of tagging it with "no source." -- Jrue 24:44, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

Could you change the range of the "% approve" axis to include all of 0-100%? This has been mentioned at Talk:George W. Bush. The current range makes Bush's current rating appear to be around 0% at first glance. —Guanaco 02:43, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

Hurricane Ivan FA and Others

Like the idea of renomination. However, before we do that, a description of the recovery efforts after the storm must be added. The 'Aftermath and Recovery' section should be named 'Aftermath' because that's all it describes; the death and destruction the storm caused and not the recovery that came after. That's the article's biggest problem.

Where do you stand on renominating 2004AHS? I'm open to other suggestions for hurricane articles you think deserve good article or FA status. -- Hurricane Eric - my dropsonde - archive 01:28, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Well, let's use what we have instead of sitting around moping. This website has some info about the recovery efforts on the Gulf Islands [2]. This website gives a lot of good info about recovery efforts on Grenada and other Caribbean islands [3]. Recovery efforts in Louisiana are listed here: [4]. The info is out there, you just have to look. All I did was Google search 'Hurricane Ivan recovery efforts' and got all that. There's more too. So, even though there may be little to tell, it's definately worth inclusion into the article. Just look before you assume that there's too little info to be worthwhile. -- Hurricane Eric - my dropsonde - archive 21:54, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
Finals should be over, we need to work on this together if anything is going to get done. -- Hurricane Eric - my dropsonde - archive 04:03, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Hwang Woo Suk images

Hi there, some sorry if images didn't contained properly image tagging, i am some kind of new on uploading pictures, now images features properly tag and source. If my contributions to pictures were wrong or copyright problem please feel free to contact me again on my talk page so i can specify were i taken them. By the way it's a pitty most of them were taken out from the article. About [[5]] i didn't uploaded the original artwork because its copyrighted so i decided to do a remake and then uploading new diagram and i have already precised it on image summary, does this fix the copyright problem?, if so you can remove the copyright tagg.Happy Holidays. :) HappyApple 00:04, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, I got them. Man, that was a big back log, but thanks for reminding me (meant to do it weeks ago). Hurricanehink 00:05, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

Re:San Remo

I put back the {{web screenshot}} tag we're supposed to use for images taken from webpages. The image is copyrighted by Hotel San Remo, and I added that also.

San Remo 2

I took a screenshot of the entire webpage, then cropped it to just show the one picture, which I thought was ok. Delete it if you want. Because of these kinds of issues and other corrections I have made that keep getting changed, I am thinking of giving up on Wikipedia.

Template

Hello Tom. Can you go to WP:TFD and comment or vote about Template:PD-USGov-LOC ? Thank you - Darwinek 11:13, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

I was trying to bring the template in line with some of the national politician stubs, they have photos that do kind of ad to the template. The flags just seem kind of boring and have little to do with the politics; they seem more appropriate for the stubs on the states themselves. Is there a decent, relatively up-close photo of the capitol building of Maryland floating around with a GFDL? Cheers. Youngamerican 00:56, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Followup--I forgot that I gave you guys Spiro Agnew. Cannot blame you for not being thrilled there. Someone from Jersey didn't like my use of that "Southerner," Woodrow Wilson. He put the state seal up and that looked pretty good. PS, keep up the good work on MD articles. Youngamerican 01:06, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Maria pic

I resized Image:Hurricane_Maria_September_6_2005.jpg. However you didn't give the original source (there's a link to the jpg, but no link to the page with copyright information) so I couldn't do much else with it. Although there are 94% fewer pixels in the sized-down version it's only 75% smaller. If we could download a new version from nasa we could probably get a higher-quality 3000x3000 image. Jdorje 03:17, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Yeah. I went through all their archives but I couldn't find it. Not sure where they could have moved it to. Jdorje 01:41, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Bush's Approval Rating

Welcome back and 2005AHS straw poll

Hey, glad to see you're back! Hope things are healing well. By the way, you might want to vote on that straw poll at Talk:2005 Atlantic hurricane season, if you didn't see it after you posted. Thanks! --AySz88^-^ 22:02, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Alpha Phi Alpha

The cabal mediator has requested that no edits be done without having disucssion on the talk page. However; it also rude just to remove someone's edit without speaking with that contributor. There are many such list on other articles in wikipedia, in fact, that's how I got the idea to place the ist on Alpha Phi Alpha. I'd be happy to disuss this with you on the talk page and have the cabal mediator decide if the list is good and the image bad. Ccson 67.34.215.22 13:49, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

West Virginia as the U.S. Collaboration of the Week

Hey Tom, I nominated West Virginia's main article as a candidate for US Collaboration of the Week since it is in much need of a major upgrade and reorganization. I know you've contributed to articles dealing with West Virginia in the past so I hope you will help us with this current endeavor. Please feel free to support the nomination or make a comment either way at the US Collaboration nomination page. Thanks! --Caponer 22:46, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Disney links

Got a message from you about a link that I was adding to some pages about Disney World. I was adding that link only because i thought people would find the information useful, and noticed that there was a bunch of information that was taken from his web site and book. If mentioning the book was not allowed, can i still mention his web site? I see a number of Disney fan web sites mentioned in external links. Thanks.

Thank you, Tom, for your support of my RfA. I look forward to seeing you more at some of the US Congress related articles when I have a chance - I've neglected that area :p. I will do my best in my new role as admin and welcome your feedback. NoSeptember talk 17:30, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Correct IP - but a wrong person!

While surfing Wikipedia I suddenly got a message ".. to stop personal attacks.." on a Wiki contributor!

Presumably, some time before, the attack had come from an anonym. user who had the same IP. However, the IP is being RANDOMLY ASSIGNED by the provider and changing every time the user connects.. If you go on tracking the IP I am afraid you have a very slim chance to get your message through to the 'attacker'..

This made me open an account ('filipid'); although I do not know - as yet - in what way it might help me out of this "aggressive-anonymous" mess:)..

Filipid, the innocent bystander

So much for the IP..

Thanks for answering. The good thing is - I now have an account:) Filipid
