I'm an instructor at the University of Western Ontario. I'm just getting started in Wikipedia and I'm delighted to be collaborating with a great class of students to have a positive impact beyond our course.TomHaffie (talk) 23:57, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia, TomHaffie! Thank you for your contributions. I am Nikkimaria and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time, so if you have any questions feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that will automatically produce your username and the date. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

First name last initial, or first initial last name? My inclination would be the former...Also, with regards to them finding the course page, perhaps we should post a link to it on WebCT? Nikkimaria (talk) 23:51, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MEDRS

[edit]

Your students are contributing text throughout Wikipedia that is not compliant with WP:MEDRS-- adding text to multiple articles based on primary sources, often also breaching WP:RECENTISM, WP:UNDUE and WP:NOTNEWS, sometimes re-adding information already in the article. Will you please review Wikipedia's medical sourcing requirements with them ? If they don't want to digest MEDRS, Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2008-06-30/Dispatches may help them understand how to use PubMed to locate secondary reviews and avoid using primary studies incorrectly. Burden analysis

[edit]

Hey Tom, in case you haven't seen it, a portion of last year's class edits were analyzed as part of the burden analysis for an Education Program eval. Hope all's well. Nikkimaria (talk) 03:17, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hereditary cancer program

[edit]

Hi, thanks for being a teacher! One of your (possibly former) students has created an article, a brave thing, but is off track. Hereditary cancer program Am trying to work with the person... will see where it goes.Jytdog (talk) 00:14, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

GEL

[edit]

Hey Tom, I'm out on Point Grey at the moment, but I'm happy to help from a distance. Let me know what I can do, and feel free to point students to me for help as needed. Nikkimaria (talk) 15:54, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. I've welcomed most of them, but Rob C appears to have either not registered or made an error in his username on the course page. Nikkimaria (talk) 20:32, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, found him. Nikkimaria (talk) 21:10, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
