Dvořák's wife

Thanks! (Two months belatedly :) ) Re Anna Dvořáková - I've seen this surname given at another point given to a descendant of Dvořák's rather than to his wife's but will have a look at the biography of course. And in regards the myth (and it has grown into one in the strict sense whether true or false :) ) in question - documentary primary sources are hopefully still available, and are the main thing even if they don't always allow a conclusive judgment. The < math > environment

Hi, I would like to direct your attention to the Manual of Style (mathematics). In general, it is not a good idea to force PNG rendering of math formulas that are displayed inline. This can cause text alignment issues, so it typically is better to use either the \scriptstyle environment or wiki markup to render mathematical formulas inline. If you want to force PNG rendering, it is generally a better idea to do it on a separate line. Thanks, and happy editing! siℓℓy rabbit (talk) 22:19, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your comment. Each editing I did I tested and the displayed PNG rendering was much better than one without it. I did this editing because I found in another place a recomendation to force PNG rendering for those formulas that come up incorrectly displayed. TomyDuby (talk) 01:16, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

If the formula doesn't display correctly, I think it is better to use wiki markup syntax. Thus, if you don't like the way $c(t)=(x(t),y(t))$ looks, then you should mark it up like this: c(t) = (x(t),y(t)) rather than forcing the rendering like this $c(t)=(x(t),y(t))\,$. In general, this should only be done as a last resort, when a formula cannot be suitably typeset by other means. siℓℓy rabbit (talk) 01:34, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Style manuals

Hello. Please see my edits to random Fibonacci sequence. It is incorrect to capitalize the iniitial "s"; see Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Also, one should use complete sentences and set the title phrase in bold early in the article. And some initial context-setting, at least telling the lay reader that mathematics is what it's about, is needed. Michael Hardy (talk) 13:06, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
