Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:John Keats Signature.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:KeatsSignature.jpg. The copy called Image:KeatsSignature.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 12:00, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Links to signature pages[edit]

These links do not meet our Wikipedia:External links guidelines, as they do not contain much information and seem to be done out of conflict of interest. DreamGuy 10:08, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

July 2007[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. MER-C 12:32, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Frank Harbord[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Frank Harbord, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the page. Outer Hebrides[edit]

I reverted your edit to the Outer Hebrides article because when you added Islands in the Sound: Wildlife in Hebrides you also changed the "References" section in a negative way. If you wish to re-add the book then please stay within the system established in the article. Reducing a book that was already listed in the references to a footnote in a Bibliography section is not helpful for the article. Manxruler (talk) 14:16, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, when you add literature to reference sections, please follow the proper guidelines for referencing literature and don't put part of the book reference in a Bibliography and the rest in a footnote. Manxruler (talk) 14:19, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for being so understanding. Your wildlife book might very well be a very good addition to the article, it merely needsto be added with sufficient detail and in the proper way. The conventional way to add a book is: Author. "Title". Place of publication. Publisher, year. ISBN. (if avaiable) Just use that recipe and everyone is happy. One last thing: Please use my talk page for communication, not my user page Manxruler (talk) 16:10, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello TonyDodson! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 945 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

A tag has been placed on Roger Lonsdale requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
