Hi there. I'm a classmate in your HMB436 class this semester and noticed that we are both writing articles concerning species within the Penicillium genus. I see that one of your references is Fungi and food spoilage by John I, Pitt and Alisa D. Hocking. I also found this book very useful. From pg. 207 onwards, there's additional information regarding growth of P. citrinum on Czaper's agar which you might want to include such as the colonial diameter observed on Czapek's Agar. As well, colonial morphology on other common laboratory media such as G25N and MEA might be useful to include as well as general growth facts, such as how your species reproduces asexually via conidiophore production. Both these topics are also highlighted in this book. This source also contains information regarding your species ecology, physiology, mycotoxin production and other distinguishing features which might be helpful and of interest to future readers so you might want to consider incorporating this additional information into your article. You can also get related information from the CMI database as well. The fact that your species was an initial source of Statin might be something that could be further explored in a separate section titled "Industrial Uses" perhaps. Suggestions for HMB436 Assignment

Hi Tony,

I am one of your classmate from HMB436. Overall your article is quite informative, but I do saw a few places that you could improve on.

• You might want to italicized the synonyms as they are the names for the a fungal specie.
• Could include medical and/or agricultural significance of this particular fungus
  • Could check the book: Fungi and Food Spoilage, by John I. Pitt, A.D. Hocking
• What are the differences between the different strain types? Is it just because of their sequence differences?
• Some of the points in Habitat and Ecology should be included in the section of disease
• There are many molecules that you have mentioned in the Physiology section, however, it would be better if you could provide explanations of what is the significance of these molecules for the fungus
• Should include more information about the fungus's morphology. I have provided a few articles that could address this need:
