Ways to improve 1998 Israeli municipal elections

[edit]

Hello, Totalstgamer,

Thank you for creating 1998 Israeli municipal elections.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Rather than External links to election results, it would be better if inline citations to the relevant external sources were used; this will help Wikipedia users verify that assertions made in the text are supported by reliable, independent sources. The inline citations would then be captured as footnotes under a References heading (the Reflist template helps with formatting of the References section). WP:CITE has useful guidance on how to cite works.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Paul W}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

An article you recently created, 1955 Israeli municipal elections, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Israeli politicians pages

[edit]

Noticed you undid multiple page upgrades about Israeli politicians. The Hebrew language wiki has full detail, and most other English language politicians have full detail. Helpfulguy101 (talk) 22:08, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for getting in touch. The standard practice is to use the subterm template for Israeli politicians unless they're PMs, mostly because it allows for more necessary information to be condensed into one place. I think that makes sense, given how chaotic israeli politics are. I know hebrew wikipedia does things differently, that's just not very relevant. If you want, we can discuss this in more detail on a talk page like Talk:Yoav Galant, since that'd probably allow for more people to get involved. Benjamin Netanyahu's education at MIT

[edit]

Hi, I was reading the Wikipedia entry on Benjamin Netanyahu and I noticed an error regarding his education at MIT. I can't correct it because I do not have editing rights (the page is locked for editing) and am not interested in creating an account. So, I looked up the editors' handles on the history page. There are a lot of editors, but you have among the most edits.

Here's the issue - and it's a minor one, but one that deserves correction: Netanyahu took a double load in order to complete his undergraduate studies in two and a half years, which would normally take four years. The text suggests that he completed his master's degree in only two and a half years with the same caveat that it normally takes four years to complete a master's.

However, a master's degree usually takes only two years, so if it took him 2.5 years to do his master's, it would have taken him longer than normal. A review of the source material shows that he completed his undergraduate degree in 2.5 years, not his master's. Here is the current version:

"At MIT, Netanyahu studied a double-load, completing a master's degree (that would normally take four years) in only two and a half years, despite taking a break to fight in the Yom Kippur War." 174.109.83.64 (talk) 14:18, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for reaching out. The source cited in the article mentions that Netanyahu took two and a half years to get a Bachelor of Science (i think) in Architecture, which according to the BoS's page takes about 3-5 years. I don't know how i could potentially rephrase this at the moment, but i could probably look into it at some point today or tomorrow. In the meantime, i'd suggest you leave a message on the article's talk page, so other experienced editors could help with the issue. Totalstgamer (talk) 14:42, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Activist for Israeli-American Jewish relations

[edit]

Hi Totalstgamer, I recently created a restructure and update of Jay Ruderman's article. He is a philanthropist who served in the IDF, was Leadership Director of AIPAC, and works to strengthen relations between Israeli and American Jewry. Here is my explanation of the changes I made; if you agree that they make the article more encylopedic, would you mind implementing the new version? Thank you! LiatDo (talk) 18:22, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Liat, i've gone over the changes and accepted some of them. In some instances, i chose to preserve stuff you proposed removing because i was torn on its notability. I also chose not to include the mention of the podcast for similar reasons. In addition, i made "philanthropy" a subsection of "Career" and maintained a modified version of the "views and opinions" section. I'm not particularly well informed on Jay Ruderman, Disability rights or Diaspora Judaism, so feel free to make additional changes to the page. Thanks for working to comply with COI! Totalstgamer (talk) 20:09, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Totalstgamer, thank you for your hard work in updating Jay Ruderman's article! Regarding the podcast, I am including links to the significant press coverage of "All About Change:"
USA Wire
JNS
Arutz Sheva
Based on these articles covering the podcast, would you reconsider including it in the article? If you do not think that it warrants its own section, perhaps it would be more appropriate in the "Activism" subsection? Thank you again! LiatDo (talk) 08:31, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for the delayed response. Having read the sources in question and looked at wikipedia's guidelines, i don't see a reason not to include a mention of the podcast. As a result, i've added one to the Activism section. Totalstgamer (talk) 00:31, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Totalstgamer, thank you very much for taking the time to review everything and for the addition! LiatDo (talk) 08:41, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
