ENG 465 Check-In[edit]

Hi Tony,

This is Sam, the TA from ENG 465! Prof. Hanley asked me to help get in touch with everyone this weekend to make sure the Wiki assignments are moving along smoothly.

I know you finished a bunch of the training modules and one of the exercises already, which is great!

I saw you were thinking about making Degenesis your chosen article for this project, but I'm not sure if it will work. I think it might be hard to find 3-5 quality sources. Official websites are generally considered poor sources on Wikipedia, especially without several other high-quality sources to go with them. Prof. Hanley has the final say on approving article topics for this class though, so you can definitely ask him, if Degenesis is what you really want to work on this semester!

With all that said, I'd be happy to help you brainstorm if you need a new idea. Also, the next few training modules you haven't quite gotten to yet should help guide you toward resources that might make picking a topic easier, if you end up needing to!

If there's anything I can do to help you with this assignment, feel free to reply to me here and we'll see what we can do! I have email notifications on, so I'll get an email if you do reply here. Or you could message me on Zoom during class if you'd like. Totally up to you! But I'd be happy to work with you via email, a Zoom meeting, or just chatting here on your Talk Page, if you think any of that would be helpful :) --Sjnickerson (talk) 03:38, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sam,
Sorry for responding so late. Well considering that this is a tabletop rpg. I'd understand how difficult finding articles or sources that would allow me to add to it. However, I do have access to the source books that this. Being the source books produced with creating Degenesis. There are several books that are available that discuss the a lot more than what is currently available on the current wiki page. This link is one of the many books that discuss the story/context of the world. I think these would be better sources than the website. Could I get your thoughts on using these source books? Hi Tony,
I apologize for not seeing this, I had notifications coming every time a Talk page was edited, even if the edits weren't for me, so I missed some of the edits that actually were directed toward me, unfortunately. To be totally honest, as creative as it was to want to work with Degenesis and as much as the world of that tabletop RPG might have fit the theme of our class, I think you made the right choice switching to Turn A Gundam- just a lot easier to work with for this Wikipedia assignment.
Anyway, I also left you a message on your article draft Talk page about how Prof. H just wants to see some revisions done now that peer reviews are done before we give the "greenlight" to move on with the project. Just wanted to make sure that you would see it. As I said there, let me know if there's anything I can do to help! --Sjnickerson (talk) 05:47, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
