Re:Malchior/Rorek

Somehow I always mix Rorek up with Malchior. Anyway I just fixed the image. Thank you for telling me. PeaceNT (Talk | contribs) 12:24, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Main Protagonist vs. Protagonist

[edit]

Hi Trainra, I reverted Zidane as the "main protagonist" to just plain "protagonist" because main protagonist means main main character and protagonist means main character. I didn't want to confuse anyone.67.142.130.46 22:46, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Eileen67.142.130.46 22:46, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

Hmm...these orphaned image warnings.Same as me ^_^. I used to upload a few images and then just completely forgot about adding them to the intended article. Also, I've just notice, Image:Cash and Sammy.jpg and Image:Cron and Kai.JPG lack the proper source, you should consider adding it. "When uploading images, remember to always state how you got it, if it was scanned, or if you had gotten it from a site" (not my words, I quote this from someone somewhere, just can't remember now). I wasn't aware of that until recently, so if you bother to look at my contribs, you'll see I had to add the source to a dozen images yesterday. Just pop by talk about that (hope you don't think I poke my nose into your work :}) Have a good day! PeaceNT 11:43, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling in Digimon articles ?

[edit]

What´s up with you changing Evolve to Digivolve ? It´s not a spelling error ! It´s correct ! Both terms, Evolution and Shinka ( which means the same ) are used in the Original. Digivolve is a term made up by Dubbers and Bandai of America, who became obsessed with the prefix Digi. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MugenSeiRyuu (talkcontribs)

Spelling

[edit]

Just wanted to leave a note of thanks and to say you've been doing a great job at cleaning up all the spelling mistakes on the Digimon articles.

Are there any pages here that need extensive spell checks? If one does I will be happy to go through and correct them. (from WT:ANIME)

If you have free time, you can check through the Hunter x Hunter articles (listed on this template). Most of these articles where started by me, and my spelling is terrible. It's not a very well known series, so there aren't all that many people editing it. A spell check on them would be really great. --`/aksha 10:06, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free images

[edit]

Hi Trainra. Haven't talked to you for a long time, I hope life is treating you well.

In light of the recent Signpost story and this debate, our addition of fair use images to the Titans characters page, unfortunately, doesn't go well with WP:FU. I'm inclined to remove most of the images, but since we had worked together on the article, I would like to hear your opinion on the issue first. I'm quite unhappy about the removal, but the page currently violates some policies, so I guess we can only leave the pics of the most important characters. Which images do you think should be reserved? (I think Cinderblock and Overload are the most notable among the minor characters, but that's just me). Best regards, PeaceNT 16:26, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. It's nice to know you're fine. I'm all right, though a little busy IRL.
A few days ago when I first read the whole WP:FU policy, where it says non-free content is to be used when strictly necessary, I was quite worried about the 40 fair use images at the Titans page and was inclined to remove them all. Now that I've given the matter some thoughts, and reread WP:FU, I suppose it would be okay to have 8 to 10 images (with detailed fair use rational).
For the allies, I agree to keep the images you suggested, and I'd like to keep Larry's, too.
As for the the demons, it's a good idea to use Homecoming 2, the screenshots here might be appropriate, we only need six or seven images to illustrate all of our evil friends. :) However, there're a couple of things that we need to work out:
  • Where to place the images.
  • What to write in the captions. Ig: if we have it like "From left to right: Character A, B, C..." there would be trouble with images which include the non-notable enemies (who are not mentioned in the article).
I've also emailed TGN asking for permission to use their screenshots. Let's see what they say. Best, PeaceNT 16:25, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, Tramm's is fine, but I'm not sure about Galfore's. He made his appearance only in Betrothed (but not really the main character of that episode) and has no special power, I think he is rather insignificant. What do you think should be the criteria for judging the importance of a character? I suppose they should play a role in a number of episodes or be the major character in one. Not sure yet. I'm still thinking about this... PeaceNT 11:05, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I change my mind all the time. well, done thinking, let's just keep all the allies but Kron and Kai (since they are too non-notable), adjust the size of the images, and remove all the villains. the Homecoming images can be added later. I attempted to make the changes here. Do you think the modified version look less excessive than the current one? PeaceNT 12:02, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Brushogun's kept, we'll lose images of characters like Cash and Sammy, Cironielian Chrysalis Eater, The Fire Monster who don't appear in Homecoming 2, anyway they are quite unimportant. I'll tag the images for deletion. PeaceNT 13:28, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Trainra. Thanks for your edits on Brook Watson. This is just to let you know the typo you fixed ('usefull') wasn't a typo. It was in a quotation, and should therefore stay 'as is', even though the old-fashioned spelling looks a little odd to us. Cheers, Jasper33 19:33, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Recent Images missing FUR

[edit]

Hi trainra, the MediaWiki namespace perhaps serves the purpose of making public announcement at times. However, I suppose changes with the aim of notifying users of some events are usually made out of extreme necessity and importance. The signpost could be also helpful, but not by any means the perfect method as lots of users don't read it. Having said that, I think this action is quite unnecessary, if images are tagged for lack of FUR, the uploaders would sure be notified. You shouldn't worry about it. Re. Pokemon opening appearances

[edit]

Looks like the "s" was an accident. I was talking about the 10th Japanese opening, Spurt. The edit was concerned with deleting stuff that said "[Insert Random Pokémon here] has been seen in the 10th Japanese opening, Spurt, so it's possible that Ash may see it again." It's now been an entire season since the opening and none of them have been seen again, soI think there's nothing more to it. Aw, that was extremely nice of you, Trainra. Thanks. The article wouldn't have been promoted without your kind assistance, and your support. Turuiemon

[edit]

The Win Ratio Card clearly shows that Turuiemon is the natural champion of Antylamon (Deva). Since the Koshiki Daizan Books are clear on the fact that Wendigomon is a Dark Evolution, and not the natural champion, and since even the cards emphasize that Antylamon (Deva) digivolves from Turuiemon, and Turuiemon is the only one of Antylamon (Deva)'s champions, even in the cards, that digivolves from Lopmon*, it really doesn't seem to be that bad of OR-Lopmon and Turuiemon are both canonically shown to naturally digivolve to Antylamon (Deva), and the Tamers guidebook says that Wendigomon is a Dark Evolution, not the true champion.KrytenKoro 09:46, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • (Well, one Bitmon card has a digivolution from Lopmon, even though it is naturally from Tailmon, and it seems to have only been added because all the other Devas had an armor champion. Let's say "consistently" digivolves from Lopmon)

"Doesn't appear in Tamers"

[edit]

Baihumon does. Check the Digimon Encyclopedia for the entire story. but yeah, all four of them appear several times, it's just the seiryuu and suzaku have the biggest roles.KrytenKoro 14:07, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I meant by that that he is spoken of but do you actually see him? Trainra 02:28, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fresh Digimon

[edit]

I have no idea about Kodukugumon. But it seems to me that Dokugumon gives birth to it, so it would be Fresh. Where is WTW getting solid info about it, though? -However, it's a bit word, like ChibiKiwimon. Is it actually just it's own Digimon, or an extension of Dokugumon? As in, a facsimile of spiderlings in order to complete the "illusion" of being a spider?

Kuramon-sounds good. Might work better on the "Character" version of the digimon, though.

Nyokimon - not in japanese, it doesn't. I've checked everywhere I can, and not only do no Japanese sites say that, but the closest Japanese word means "urinal".

Popomon panned out - 蒲公英, tanpopo, Dandelion.

Poyon is not a japanese word, according to monash or babelfish. Searching for Poyon and Poyomon in japanese only gives two results - one, an english wiki-like page, the other, this. Granted, it is about Digimon, but it is a blog, and it is the only page that has the two words.

Pupumon makes a lot more sense than what I found. The only problem is that a pupae is the chrysalis stage, not the larva stage.

The Popomon and Kuramon things sound good. KoDokugumon I have no idea, Nyokimon and Poyomon are incorrect, and Pupumon I'll chalk up to Japanese weirdness. KrytenKoro 18:14, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you get her to write down or e-mail you the kanji, then, and if possible any kind of source? I mean, I trust that she knows what she's talking about, but it just seems a bit odd that Poyon has such low results.KrytenKoro 23:52, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, do you remember those images I sent you? # 601 should be a very good MaloMyotismon image, but for some reason wikipedia won't let me upload it. Could you try and figure out what's wrong with it? Thanks.KrytenKoro 04:03, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Terriermon

[edit]

I tend to stay away from the character Digimon pages, but the Koshiki Daizan book, which is a peripheral to the anime series, does list the Fresh forms for most of the Tamers Digimon, so it would count as part of the anime character.KrytenKoro 16:40, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding fair use images into the above article. fair use images are not there for show. Continually readding these images is grounds for a block. Ryan Postlethwaite 11:09, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The reason why you are being asked to transkwiki them is because they have been deemed not notable enough for inclusion here. The reason why you are not allowed all those images is becasue every single images you added is copyright, and we don't own that copyright. Remember, wikipedia is the free encyclopedia, and copyrighted material removes the free part out of the project. Copyrighted material can only be used here very liberally, i.e. maybe a couple on a page when there is no other alternative. The digimon lists are a sea of copyrighted material which is in effect breaking the law. Please could you hurry up the people at the wikiproject to have this page transwikied? The AfD was quite a while ago now. Ryan Postlethwaite 11:58, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the images are copyright, we don't own the copyright, so we shouldn't really be using the images, and if we do, it means that people that read the encyclopedia aren't allowed to use the images themselves - that's why we have to fully limit the copyrighted images we use. As I said, 1 0r 2 in an article maybe, but the list of Rookie Digimon had about 80 copyrighted pictures so was breaking the law. It's the TV company that owns the copyright to the images as they are screen shots of their work. Ryan Postlethwaite 12:14, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly I didn't make the deletion request, I would probably have notifed the project if I had. Secondally, there's not much of a rebuttual you can make with fair use images, they quite simply aren't allowed in the quantites that you have in some of your articles. Ryan Postlethwaite 12:16, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
hmmmm, interesting point, yeah, I believe if you could get it to more like the list of pokemon pages then there would be less of an issue. Try and condense it down to as few articles as possible, quite a lot of the information in the current list doesn't really need to be there. You might wish to try and add a few more references in as well. Ryan Postlethwaite 12:20, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: How do you source an image?

[edit]

Unfortunately, we can't really source an image like that. Mainly because the source is a fan web site. Some time ago, fan sites were deemed unreliable sources because most weren't reputable. We're lucky though that we can still rely on them for translations of interviews. That's why on the new games' talk pages I listed the needed info to source the magazines, in case anyone had it. Don't worry, the info should trickle down from the Japanese sites and magazines to the US and European ones. We just need to give it time. (Guyinblack25 talk 14:54, 2 October 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Lists

[edit]

I'm to blame? Looking at the way the Incident report went and how the AfD went, isn't it obvious that my viewpoint that too many fair use images on an article violates one of the points at WP:NFCC was correct?

The Incident report was based on someone removing the fair use images and someone reverting the changes despite the guidelines at WP:NFCC. And if you read the Incident report, the one removing the images was right. Then the entire article went to AfD on grounds of notability, not fair use.

Besides, if I am part of the WikiProject (I never actually signed up for it, because I wasn't interested in large-scale project changes and because I do have a thing against WikiProjects), I am under no right to support or reject things because of it. I could have argued for Transwiki or delete, or keep, or merge, or whatever. Such things border on WP:OWN if I have an obligation to do something.

But consider this: Is what happened wrong? In that case, you have avenues to argue your case such as WP:DRV. For me, what happened was right under consensus and I would've gone for Transwiki too. But please don't blame me because now pages require Transwiking. I might've missed your comment but I might've been waiting for more comments and feedback. After all, I am under no obligation to reply to every single thread. Otherwise I wouldn't be discussing at all because it is tedious to remember where I have posted before. x42bn6 Talk Mess 14:23, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

...<sighs> You are correct you are under no obligation, but saying it is tedious to remember makes you sound like an old man. Whether the entire thing was right or wrong in various peoples minds does not matter now. What does matter is either getting the Transwiki to work or Redo the pages on the alternate wiki. ODK 00:14, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am active on WP:AN, WP:AN/I, WP:HD, WP:RD (and its subpages), WP:VP (and its subpages), WP:NCP and many more. Why do you think I don't remember individual threads? I have far too many to try to remember. x42bn6 Talk Mess 11:54, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Seems like a paltry bit to me but regardless, you directly involved yourself by posting the comments Trainra mentioned, which basically MAKES it an obligation to solve it. But that is what I think anyhow..Besides that, should we not focus on the present and not be digging up past affairs with which to inhibit us now? ODK 12:32, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Drimogemon1.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 13:55, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:ADJLSpud.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ADJLSpud.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:27, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Digimon Wiki

[edit]

Things are really progressing on the Digimon Wiki. We've finally got all Digimon resplit, we're starting up comprehensive articles on the video games, and we've also laid the groundwork for the Card namespace (though as of right now, we only have one article ready to load at Card:Agumon). I remember you've been a great contributor to the Digimon articles on wikipedia in the past, and we've kind of missed your presence at our new location. Would you consider joining our team? Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 22:40, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Killowat.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Killowat.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable.
