Article Evaluation: (United States Men's National Volleyball Team)[edit]

Evaluation of the Wikipedia article titled "United States Men's Volleyball Team" illuminates an issue with reliability. My main concern with the validity of the information on the volleyball team's Wiki page is the lack of quality recourses. Checking the listed sources for more information leads to basic websites with limited data. Also, Much of the information on the Wikipedia page is not found in either of the two sources. Additionally, information found on the current version of the article does not coincide with facts from provided resources. For example, comparing Matt Anderson's (USA Volleyball player) height on his own Wikipedia page, with the information posted on the USA Team's Wiki article there is a disagreement. Although the article has issues, it does contain useful information. The site provides a nice template with a lot of data that can be easily expanded on. I will continue this evaluation by listing the good and bad aspects of the article. I will complete the evaluation by suggesting potential edits and revisions that might improve the article's clarity and reliability.

Good aspects of the article
  1. The article provides a simple overview of the subject
  2. Article provides a great point to start off on editing
Aspects that require improvement
  1. The introduction is an oversimplification of the entire subject. It lacks a clear, concise direction.
  2. Lack of sources with substantial information (causes loss of credibility)
  3. View History tab shows infrequent attention to article (few edits can signify weak reliability)
  4. Disparity in information from various sources (inconsistency weakens quality of information)
Suggestions for article improvement
  1. Simplify the article by providing it with a more concise overview of the subject.
  2. Include additional sources of information with strong reliability
  3. Keep the article up to date with current players. (The current list is out dated)
  4. Correct language errors (Hey, we could all use it!)

Conclusion

The Wikipedia article titled "United States men's national volleyball team" is currently underdeveloped. Analysis of the article exposes that the quality of the provided information is questionable. Because there are few citations and listed sources, the information has relatively little basis. Examination of the view history tab shows that the topic has been one with desirable information. Adding sources, correcting grammar mistakes, and simplifying the data will administer a greater quality of information by developing information reliability.
