Stellar metamorphosis article[edit]

Hello, thanks for writing this article. I notice that almost all the papers cited are those of Mr. Jeffrey Wolynski, and not published in a peer-reviewed reliable journal. I wonder if this article describes a theory that is notable enough to be covered in Wikipedia. That worries me since without proof that this topic is notable, meaning covered enough in media for it to be possible to write a fair article on the topic, the article may get deleted.

Can you add any sources to the article that are not by Mr. Wolynski, such as textbooks and papers discussing this theory? Thanks. Blythwood (talk) 17:10, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Further, the entire article is copied from RationalWiki. This is most likely not a copyright violation (which would result in the article being speedily deleted) but violates Wikipedia's plagiarism rules. Copied text must be properly attributed, and simply copying and pasting whole sections or articles from another source is not generally allowed. Lithopsian (talk) 20:44, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Penn State and Valencia should do for now. There will be more in the near future, thank you for the help. Trilliant (talk) 04:52, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Stellar metamorphosis[edit]

Hello, Trilliant,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Stellar metamorphosis should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Stellar metamorphosis .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks, Lithopsian (talk) 18:58, 30 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Moved to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Stellar metamorphosis (2nd nomination). ansh666 21:40, 30 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Stellar metamorphosis, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. It is officially contested with two 3rd party, reliable sources, Penn State and Valencia.Trilliant (talk) 04:54, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have deleted the article for the second time. It is an identical re-creation after Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Stellar metamorphosis (2nd nomination), and copy-and-pasted from RationalWiki. Even with crediting the original source, the article is not suitable for Wikipedia. For one, it contains a sentence "it is a fundamental scientific controversy" which 1) contradicts the rest of the article, which describes the theory as crackpottery; 2) is an inappropriate value judgement unsuitable for Wikipedia; 3) is referenced using an article which doesn't mention the theory of stellar metamorphosis anywhere; and 4) is not true (it may have been added to the article as sarcasm).

The bottom line is: Wikipedia articles are not opinion pieces. Copying an article from a blatantly partisan source is not acceptable. (And this is coming from me as a skeptic and atheist.) I have deleted the article from your user space as well; Wikipedia user pages do not serve to permanently host deleted articles. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 06:06, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Stellar metamorphosis repost in March 2017[edit]

Hey, I noticed your creation of Stellar metamorphosis and I appreciate the effort to get a crank theory covered. Let me state that I largely share your apparent disdain for deletionists as indicated by your comment on the article talk page. However...

The article as posted has a number of obvious problems that are probably going to cause another editor to PROD or AFD it pretty quickly. First of all, the article is WAY too long for a wikipedia article about an obscure crank theory. We should be trying to summarize what its about, not document every aspect of it. The article has some image links (such as File:Hertzsprung7.jpg and File:PhaseTransitions.png) that are broken. There are also references to a tempate named "WPL" that doesn't appear to exist, which are showing up as red text. There are way too many references to first party sources (mostly Wolynski of course) and not nearly enough good reliable sources commenting on the theory. There are also numerous other style and copy-editing issues that make the article a poor fit for here. (For instance, the long aside about the Courtier's Reply is really not germane to what the article is supposed to be about).

Finally the biggest problem is that you seem to have cut-and-pasted large sections of the article including the lede from the Rational Wiki article on the same topic. That alone is going to draw someone's attention and they will probably put a "speedy delete" tag on it for that reason.

Again, I sympathize with article creators. But I predict someone is going to push the delete button on this unless you do alot more work on it very quickly. --Krelnik (talk) 20:25, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

MfD nomination of User:Trilliant/sandbox[edit]

User:Trilliant/sandbox, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Trilliant/sandbox and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Trilliant/sandbox during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion.
