If anything, Ba'athism was more influenced by fucking National Socialism during Michael Aflaq's years spent in France during the 30's. I know how you feel, your entire stupid philosophy of how Ba'athism is somehow Communism has been turned on it's head which must make your frustrated. Why was the Iraqi Communist Party repressed after The Iraqi Ba'ath Party took power from the Pro-Communist Abdul Qasim in 1968? Why were Ba'athist leaders and figure heads critical of Marx? The only similarity I can see between Ba'athism and Communism is their disdain for imperialism and colonialism besides meager economic similarities which about ever ideology and though possesses.

Why they let uneducated peons like you on Wikipedia is beyond me.

My Edits

Arab Socialism is a political ideology based on an amalgamation of Pan-Arabism and socialism". So it's not Marxist Socialism or even Communism, only in the economic sense of the word whereby it combined aspects of Socialism into an ideology that is only synonymous and unique to the Arabs so it's again, how can Communism possibly play a role in something that invokes ethnic nationalism and pride and wanting to unite the Arab world and solely the Arab world based on: What language and what culture people are and of what background people are of . But I don't regard the word "Socialism" as being a Marxist construct or a "Red" construct, becuase that's ridiculous. There are many forms of Socialism that adhere to the principles of what Communism and "Red" Socialism promise. Why can't you be a socialist without being influenced by Marxism? What if you had no research into Marx, and decided you wanted a state of the Proletariat and wanted to strive for the liberation of the working class BUT based on culture and/or religion like Ba'athism or Arab Socialism or Pan-Arabism? Are you a Communist and a Marxist just becuase Marx came up with the philosophy "first" before you did? Are you borrowing from his ideas? No you're not, Socialism is so much broader, and Marxist Socialism, to me, is only one type of Socialism.

I'm familiar with Communism all to well, as this ideology has influenced my family maternal and paternal , coming from a partisan Serbian and Russian background. My Great Grandfather was killed by Stalin in his purges from 1937 to 1938 on the Military institution so I don't exactly have a good impression of Communists. But I don't hate them either for the actions of one man's interpretation of the "People's Ideology"

Qasim was never pro-communist, but the Iraqi Communist Party was the largest, and possibly the most dangerous political foe in Iraq, so he made an alliance with them (at the start), but he later (later in his reign), began a policy of repression against them.. Saddam also had a good relation with the communists (two communists were made ministers in Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr's government in the 1970s)... Saddam admired Joseph Stalin, the most evil of communists, and read several books about him (he even tried to imitate the way he ruled; he was, in many ways, successful at that)."

Qasim was a puppet to the Iraqi Communist Party, as the IRC opposed the unification with other Arab countries which the Ba'ath Party (who also helped bring Qasim to power) were very upset with. So of course, Qasim sided with IRC. He also refused to have the Arab colors on the flag, something that was also resented among the Ba'ath Party. Many ministers within Qasim's administration were members of the Iraqi Communist Party such as the Minister of Justice Mustafa Ali. The IRC supported Qasim even after his "minor crackdown" on the group due to it's growing popularity. They officially continued to support him until he was taken out of power in the Ramadan Revolution of 1963, which resulted in an "Anti-Leftist" purge and the real suppression of the IRC by The Ba'ath Party under Saddam's cousin, Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr. Even the Communist Party in Iraq resisted the coup attempt launched by the Ba'ath Party. The IRC faced a campaign of mass liquidation and their membership plummeted.In 1973 the ICP signed a packed with the Ba'athist government though, which was referred to as the National Actin Pact which formed the National Progressive Front with the Ba'ath Party. The ICP were allowed to operate independently, but tensions soon mounted when they adopted a more secure mode to their operation.

However, although the IRC were "tolerated" in the later years of Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr rule, in 1978 Saddam Hussein unleashed a renewed campaign of repression against the party, including the execution of large numbers of party members. In 1979 the party officially broke with the regime. The same year in which Saddam took power were the IRC were kicked out of the National Progressive Front.

And stating that Saddam Hussein was friends with Communists is laughable, considering how your example was used in the years when he wasn't in power, and when he become the Chairman of the Revolutionary Command Council and President everything turned around.

And yeah, Hussein did admire Stalin, at least superficially.

I'm well aware of the sources, and articles and the various books on Aflaq. My point was that I could not see the reference near the sentence that said he was apart of the Syrian Lebanese Communist Party as it.. was not there, so I said it was not referenced information becuase there was no reference stating otherwise and there still isn't in the paragraph which states he was a Communist activist. I cannot see a reference sign that looks like: ....[4] , if that's what you claim.

So you're saying that Socialism came first under Marx but Aflaq is saying it came under The Islamic Prophet Muhammad? So Alfaq is a Marxist becuase he was influenced by Marx and read Marx? I know plenty of people who were influenced by Marx who started their own ideologies that challenged Marxist thought. People such as Joseph Goebbels, a senior member of the National Socialist German Workers Party. Hitler even read Marxist literature, but he wasn't a Marxist or a Communist at all.

I can also see a whole section dedicated the role of Islam within Ba'athist thought, though I'm well aware it's a secular movement.

And no, I don't believe Marx is synonymous with Socialism, to the contrary I believe quite the opposite. I believe that there are many forms of Socialism and Marxism is only one form of Socialism. I find it unfair when someone thinks your a Socialist and immediately says your a Marxist, Red Socialist,a Communist or a Leninist

But that is for 'Neo-Ba'th', not 'Neo-Ba'thism'. Neo-Ba'th was a term used at the time around the 1966 to differentiate the Syrian Ba'th splinter group from the main Ba'th. As the party took power in Syria, the need for that name declined (as names like 'Syrian Ba'th Party' etc became commonplace in media). Neo-Ba'thism is not an apt term for the ideology of the party. There are only a handful of google book hits for it. For example, http://books.google.com/books?id=0jjM74ZYS5kC&pg=PT29 "Variations on Arab nationalism multiplied, sometimes even inspiring separate classifications, such as Nasserism and Ba'thism, and even more arcane subclas- sifications, such as neo-Ba'thism.", i.e. denoting "neo-Ba'thism" as a term used for the time around Salah Jadid, not the current state of the party.

Greetings Trust Is All You Need. Looking back over the history of Haji Mohammad Chamkani, I see that you made an edit there some time ago, and I'm looking for an editor who might know something about the subject. I'm pretty active over at Wikipedia in Spanish and the other day I reverted an edit by an IP that claimed the guy was dead but providing a reference that I was unable to translate using Google. So I came over here to see if I could get any further info., but found the same claim, this time unreferenced, and which I subsequently removed. The other WPs I've checked make no mention of his death. I have been unable to find any news anywhere on this matter in the English/Spanish language press and as this is a potentially serious BLP issue, I would appreciate any pointers. Re:Communist Party of Russia template

Re:the reversion of my edits to that template some months ago.

The collection of names which you reverted to seems to mirror the leaders of the RSFSR/Soviet Union, but these were not the general secretaries of the party. I amended it to match the list on General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

From my knowledge of the Russian revolution (albeit limited), Lenin was certainly never the official leader of the party, but orchestrated the October revolution and was chairman of the RSFSR.

Unfortunately, I can't read in either of those languages, and Yazan who could read Arabic is on a long-term wikibreak. But I'm not too worried about that. Egyptian Ba'ath party

Thanks for the reply! Yeah the source does look like it's explicitly referring to a member of the Syrian led movement. I thought perhaps it could have just been a more general reference to other Ba'ath parties, or maybe a mistake over the allegiance of the party in Egypt. It's quite probable though that there's a member of the Syrian Ba'ath movement in Egypt as well though, I just wish I knew what it was called. I'd imagine the party to be more visible now in the post-Mubarak era, even if it wasn't so popular. MrPenguin20 (talk) 14:54, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Citing sources

Hello TIAYN,

you are long enough in the business to know that a source has to be cited every time another user requests it. If in doubt, nothing is "obvious" and "does not need a source". Wikipedia does not include content that seems plausible or that users believe to be correct (WP:No original research) if it is not backed by reliable sources. Your argumentation is a perfect example of OR ("how can it not be a part of the cold war"). If it is commonly accepted and obvious that these events are perceived as part of the cold war, it will be very easy for you to present a reliable source verifying it. Hi, i see that you reverted all my edit about Mikhail Youzhny. Are you a vandal? I was only adjusting the page as the other players had, with tables and signatures, to creare an equally situation. I don't understand why are you reverted it. I didn't cancel everything as you did, and i am not as rude as you've shown instead. Go to see the other pages (for examples Tomas Berdych or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga) and every page hasn't this absurd layout. I'm not rude and I never will be, but here you are wrong and i will reverted the page (WITHOUT cancelling nothing), only making it equal to the others. Do you understand? PS: I read the page, but this scheme (that is absolutely right) i haven't touched it.
