You're clearly WP:NOTHERE. Inform yourelf on the basic policies of Wikipedia; this is not a free medium for point of view-pushing, but a public encyclopedia. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 06:36, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have made legitimate additions to the article on Michael Witzel and did not add anything without citations or valid references. If a well known scholar has had controversies in the past, they have to be known to the public. Hiding negative details and making every thing look rosy is not appropriate. The public has the right to know the full truth. You User:Joshua Jonathan on the other hand are clearly taking sides and not being objective.
Read WP:BLP, WP:NPOV, WP:OR, WP:RS. NB: regarding your usernamd, see also WP:TRUTH. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 19:26, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I am very familiar with the guidelines and rules. Most of my references and source of information were from the articles written by Michael Witzel himself. I only pointed to the views expressed by Witzel and other well verified lectures, papers, books and articles. Non of the sentences I added to the article had my personal views, It was very objective and broadminded, which lets the public decide for themselves. User:Joshua Jonathan By deliberately not allowing me to add verified content, you are showing blatant bias and misleading the public.
This actually makes your argument weaker, not stronger. Please read Wikipedia's policy on primary sources, which says (among other things): "Do not analyze, evaluate, interpret, or synthesize material found in a primary source yourself; instead, refer to reliable secondary sources that do so." Sources such as groups.yahoo.com, in particular, are unlikely to be considered reliable.
Finally, saying things like "you are showing blatant bias" to other editors is one of the quickest ways to get yourself blocked around here. In your own self-interest, I suggest you not do that any more. NewEnglandYankee (talk) 19:58, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
NewEnglandYankee, I never said I made any interpretations, I only referred to the secondary sources which make the interpretations. The public message group on yahoo.com is used by Mr. Michael Witzel himself as a form of social media. If it is not reliable, then statements made by well known people on other social media like Twitter and Facebook should also not be used on Wikipedia ?
No, Twitter and Facebook are not generally considered good sources. "Wikipedia articles should be based mainly on reliable secondary sources, i.e., a document or recording that relates or discusses information originally presented elsewhere." This is especially true when you're talking about the biography of a living person. You'll need to find published sources with strong editorial oversight and good fact-checking. NewEnglandYankee (talk) 20:31, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Really? What is your secondary source for "Also, he continues by mocking and stereotyping the American Hindus for their choice of living"? --NeilN talk to me 20:41, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you are "very familiar with the guidelines and rules," how come? Have you been editing before with another account? Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 21:04, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User:Joshua Jonathan What another account ? I don't have any other account. Please check your source of information correctly. --User talk:Truthteller301

From your additions to the Michael Witzel article:

[1] There are many allegations that Michael Witzel have [sic] used anti-Hindu statements both in his articles and in person. [1A] In the Indo-Eurasia public group on the internet Witzel writes:[1]

“The Hindus in North America (HINAs) are not just hiina, "lost, abandoned", but they (understandably) cling to their homeland in all manners they can come up with………. They also tell their daughters to study Classical Indian dance (not exactly a highly regarded occupation back home), they build many temples and have Sunday schools (as many other ethnicities do). But, they hardly invest in Higher Education as other successful Asians have done. Nor allow their children to study items outside Law or Medicine, such as Indian Studies……..”

[1B] He calls Hindus in America as “Hiina” which in Sanskrit means inferior or lowly. [1C] Also, he continues by mocking and stereotyping the American Hindus for their choice of living[2].

[2] In a public message group, Michael Witzel and Steve Farmer exchange messages using denigrating words towards the Hindu texts.

“Dan, Many short mantras (the later biija mantras) like oM have humble origins the Veda. Him (hiM) is used in the Veda to call your goat .. and your wife. Cheers, Michael(Witzel)”[3]

and then Steve Farmer replies:

“What if you want to call your goat and your wife _simultaneously_, Michael? :^) Steve”[4]

References

  • [1], "there are many allegations that Michael Witzel have used anti-Hindu statements both in his articles and in person," is an unsourced accusation, and a personal opinion.
  • [1A] is a quote which is taken out of context, to illustrate [1]. That's WP:OR, and a violation of WP:BLP.
  • [1B] this translation is unsourced, and deviates from the translation, and intention, given by Witzel. Again, WP:OR, and a violation of WP:BLP and WP:NPOV. See also this site for the many possible translations of "hinaa."
  • [1C] "Also, he continues by mocking" - "mocking" is a personal opinion.
  • [2] "In a public message group, Michael Witzel and Steve Farmer exchange messages using denigrating words towards the Hindu texts" - that's a personal (mis)interpretation. This is what was actually written:

MW: “Dan, Many short mantras (the later biija mantras) like oM have humble origins the Veda. Him (hiM) is used in the Veda to call your goat .. and your wife. Cheers, Michael(Witzel)” [I can't find this message at that page; I trust you copied the right text from some other website...]

SF: “What if you want to call your goat and your wife simultaneously, Michael? :^) Steve” [also not at that page]

AWT: [Oct 31, 2005, at 9:39 AM] "What if you want to call your goat and your wife simultaneously, Michael? :^)" Use shamanic throatsinging, as in Tuva? Allen

MW: [Tuesday, November 1, 2005, at 06:44 AM] "To answer Steve and Allen, who both will know that philology *always* has the answer: In the extraordinary situation described by you, you have to add something to the non-specific, general mammalian hiM: when calling your wife you use: "haye (jaye)" "hey, (wife)!" and in case of women of lesser social status (even demonesses), simple "hai" will do. So, pick your choice particle next time around! And beware of leaving out (lopa) of a single "phoneme"! Otherwise, you might notice that, as the Veda has it, women speak candratara (more clearly?) at night, and will tell you what you may not wish to hear. Michael

Instead of using denigrating words towards the Vedas, Witzel gives a carefull explanation of the ambiguaties in the usage of the word hiM. This context is lost in your exposé; but you probably just copied this from another site, without checking the source. Not surprising, this response by MW cannot be found at such websites. So, User:Joshua Jonathan I thought Yahoo was not a reliable source. How come you are citing it now ?. Why only clarify one instance of Witzel, Please do the same for all allegations. Thanks.--User talk:Truthteller301

I'm citing your source, to show that you cited it incorrectly. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 06:02, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
