Espace Diamant listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Espace Diamant. Since you had some involvement with the Espace Diamant redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion (if you have not already done so). Thanks

I appreciate your help with welcome-anon-test. I am not an experienced template author but when I asked for this template to be added for Twinkle I was told to create it and run it past the welcome templates project which I did to the best of my ability and knowledge. You have brought it up to the standard I had wanted initially. Thank you. Jojalozzo 17:24, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Did you vote?

Hi, I just wanted to confirm whether or not you voted, because your vote triggered an CSRF warning on our end and we wanted to make sure everything was legitimate. MBisanz talk 14:56, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure which vote you mean. If it's the ArbCom election, I voted. Also, I'm not familiar with CSRF but it sounds terrible -- perhaps I need to look into whether or not my system is being hacked.- ʈucoxn\talk 20:43, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
Also, I'm currently in Fiji. I don't know if that makes a difference regarding your warning. - ʈucoxn\talk 20:45, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
Yes, Arbcom elections, sorry I wasn't clear. I wouldn't worry, it's unlikely your system has been hacked, it's far more likely the WMF software is buggy or the connection from Fiji is buggy. MBisanz talk 20:55, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for looking out for honest voting on wikipedia. Keep up the good work! - ʈucoxn\talk 21:28, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

Translation of French

Hello Tucoxn, I noticed you are listed at Wikipedia:Translators available and wondered if you might be able to help me out. I am working on the article Maurice Le Glay and my main source is a French article. I have included a translation of a quote from Le Glay which you can find at the end of the Literary career section of his article. I have made a stab at the first few sentences of the quote using my schoolboy French but have come across a word I am not familiar with later on. The sentence is "Ils sont indépendants jusqu'à l'anarcrue". I have no idea what the last word is and Google doesn't shed any light on it, is it perhaps a misprint? Any help you can offer on this matter is much appreciated, and if you can polish my rough translation of the rest of the passage that'd be great. Many thanks - Dumelow (talk) 22:23, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for asking. I'm working on it. At first, I thought it was a misprint of "anarchie" but now I'm almost certain that it's not. I need to find it in the book, Récits marocains de la plaine et des monts footnoted in your source, first, though. That word is a rarely used word and isn't in my the measly little excuse for a French translating dictionary I brought with me to Fiji. It will take a bit more time for me to get you an answer. Mean while, I'll check out your extensive looking updates to the Maurice Le Glay page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can about your word. - ʈucoxn\talk 01:13, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
Unfortunately, that was too easy. It was simply a typo, probably by the person who put your source on the web. Look at the last sentence in the first (incomplete) paragraph on page 202, here. The word "anarcrue" is indeed supposed to be "anarchie," which translates to "anarchy" in English. The idea of 'anarchy' is something that's not uncommon for the relatively ungoverned world in which berber nomads live... the same world that Le Glay studied in Morocco. I look forward to helping with the Maurice Le Glay page. Again, thanks for your intelligent question. - ʈucoxn\talk 01:25, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
Many thanks for clearing that up, I should've thought to check the cited source! I don't really know much about Le Glay, I came across him whilst writing Zaian War and he seemed an interesting character. He is all the more intriguing for being apparently little known outside of France and for the scarcity of English language sources (much like the Zaian War). It is great to be able to expand the scope of the English Wikipedia beyond that of the Anglophone world. Thanks once again for your help - Dumelow (talk) 17:36, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Merging templates

Hi! Could you open a merger for the {{Rough translation}} and {{cleanup-translation}} templates? It would be great if you could propose new common text for them too. What do you think about merging templates {{proofreader needed}} and {{copyedit}}? --DixonD (talk) 07:44, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for prompting me about this. Yes, I'm in also in favor of merging the {{proofreader needed}} and {{copyedit}} templates. Don't you think it would be better to have the discussions one at a time? I'm not really experienced with running them, so tell me what you think. Which discussion do you think we should have first? To start, I'm working on creating a draft merge of the {{Rough translation}} and {{cleanup-translation}} templates. I'll let you know when I've got a draft (template and documentation) that's ready for input -- also, we're in the middle of a category 4 cyclone, here, so it might take me some time to finish. When I'm finished with one draft merge, I'll get started on the other. I'll keep you in the loop. - ʈucoxn\talk 11:57, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
I believe it is better to start two separate discussions so as to have more chances to get a clear consensus in at least one of them. It's a pity that I cannot help you with texts for new templates as I'm not very good in English:( --DixonD (talk) 12:39, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
DixonD, I think the draft merged template for the merger of {{Rough translation}} and {{cleanup-translation}} is ready for some help from you and/or other editors. It's here for the moment. I literally put both templates together and saved the best pieces from each. I did the same thing with the documentation, trying to get it to make sense. Take a look at it and make whatever edits you see fit. If you're editing the functionality (not language) I don't think it matters that your English grammar isn't native -- I'll re-check all of that before we send this to a formal discussion. Also, please feel free to notify other editors you trust to make constructive changes that would help the merger come to a positive conclusion. Thanks for not being upset about the time it takes for me to finish these draft mergers. My family is coming for an extended visit soon and I'll have less time for wikipedia. I'm confidant that we'll eventually get this accomplished. Thanks. - ʈucoxn\talk 22:04, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the work you've done. I'll will have a look on it in coming days, because I have little free time at the moment as well. --DixonD (talk) 22:14, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
I've made some significant changes to the template and documentation. I think it could be ready for public comment. If you looked at already, take another look as it has changed a lot. Also, it's ready for comments from other editors who want to help in a positive way. At this point, I can start working on {{proofreader needed}} and {{copyedit}}. Thanks~ - ʈucoxn\talk 04:07, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
Hi! I've made the text a bit shorter so as not to have a lot of text when it used in {{multiple issues}}. I think you can start a discussion on merging {{Rough translation}} and {{cleanup-translation}} before starting working on the others. --DixonD (talk) 12:52, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi! Sorry, could you remind what is the status of merging those templates? --DixonD (talk) 15:03, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

Hello Dixon, I completed the draft merger of {{Rough translation}} and {{cleanup-translation}}. It's located at User:Tucoxn/sandbox3. I've been doing quite a bit of copyediting lately, and I've become less certain about the merger of {{proofreader needed}} and {{copyedit}}. I did my best to merge those, keeping the text short. The result is at User:Tucoxn/sandbox4. The accompanying documentation files are at User:Tucoxn/sandbox3/doc and User:Tucoxn/sandbox4/doc (almost finished), respectively. Before we propose the changes at TfD, I need to move the pages so the titles of the draft templates are not "sandbox...". Otherwise, I would appreciate whatever input you have. - ʈucoxn\talk 03:59, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
Regarding User:Tucoxn/sandbox4. I think it should be a parameter like (translated=yes/no) in order to adjust the message appropriately. As far as I understand {{Copy edit}} is not necessarily used only in case of bad translation. --DixonD (talk) 06:00, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
This whole portion will take some time and tinkering to implement. What I was thinking might be better than adding a |translated=yes/no tag would be to have the translation portion appear if original_title and/or original_language_code were given. That's one less tag to consider. Also, this is all getting a little in to the territory of the {{Rough translation}} / {{cleanup-translation}} templates. What do you think? - ʈucoxn\talk 08:56, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
Yes, probably we don't need to mention at all that a particular article is a translation . It doesn't matter actually why proofreading is needed - either because of a bad translation or just because of lack of fluency in English (for example, as in my case:)) --DixonD (talk) 09:37, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
Ok, please keep in mind that it's going to take some work for me to get the code of this template correct, now. Thanks! - ʈucoxn\talk 10:29, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
