Whether or not it's true is irrelevant. It has to be verifiable - see WP:V. Not only that, the onus is on you to provide the source - see WP:BLP. You provided a link to his own articles, not to information about him. Likewise, the edit you made to Strom Thurmond was not what you claimed it to be on my talk page.
