November 2018[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Oshwah. I noticed that you made one or more changes to an article, Tulio Capriles Mendoza, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:43, 9 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome![edit]

Hello, Tumaca70, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Tulio Capriles Mendoza, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms our use and policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:32, 9 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tumaca70. If you're really Tulio Capriles Mendoza as you've claimed to be in this edit summary, then you would be considered to have a conflict of interest with respect to anything written about you on Wikipedia. Although Wikipedia doesn't expressly forbid conflict of interest editing, it is something which is highly discouraged because it can occasionally lead to some serious problems. So, I suggest you carefully take a look at Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide for reference to familiarize yourself with the kind of edits generally considered acceptable to make by someone having a conflict of interest.
Another thing you might want to look at is Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Relationship between the subject, the article, and Wikipedia because it contains information which you might find helpful. Wikipedia strives to ensure that all articles are neutrally written and supported by citations to reliable sources for verification purposes, and this is especially the case for articles written about living persons. Wikipedia has procedures in place to help the subjects of articles with any concerns they might have and other editors will be more than happy to help ensure that the article is in accordance with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Your best bet and achieving the changes you desire is to avoid directly editing the article (except as explained in Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#Making uncontroversial edits) as much as possible and seek assistance from others. Be advised, however, that subjects of articles have no ownership rights or final editorial control over article content, which means than any changes you propose which don't comply with relevant policies and guidelines are likely to be rejected. If you have any questions about this, you can ask them below or at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard. If you'd like to propose that changes be made to the article, please follow the instructions given in Wikipedia:Edit requests and propose them at Talk:Tulio Capriles Mendoza.
Finally, after glancing through the page history of the article, I noticed that someone editing as Tulio Capriles Mendoza previously edited the article a few times back in 2017. Are you the same person who edited using that account? If that wasn't you, then you might want to consider having your identify verified as a precaution against someone else trying to impersonate you. This will make it clear that you are indeed Tulio Capriles Mendoza and that others aren't. You can do this by emailing Wikimedia OTRS as explained in Wikipedia:User name policy#Real names. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask them at Wikipedia:OTRS noticeboard. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:11, 9 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
