List of gothic metal bands[edit]

You have been blocked from editing for a short time in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violating the three-revert rule at List of gothic metal bands. Please be more careful to discuss controversial changes or seek dispute resolution rather than engaging in an edit war. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.

<reverted rude response> Sorry, wikipedia, like most online ventures, relies upon a civil etiquette if members are to work in a positive collaboration. The initial welcome to you (that you deleted) points out our policies and expectations. You mention above that talk pages do not make policy, true, but they do help establish content consensus. Edit warring is bad and unhelpful in that at the very least it fails to achieve a push to one specific viewpoint (it merely gets reverted and sooner or later a block will inevitably result in WP:The wrong version). As a suggestion, many editors choose to follow WP:1RR, meaning that if one's revert is altered back then no further reverts are made, but talk page discussion is started and if need be the opinion of other editors sought (thus breaking out of a 1-on-1 edit war). Useful places are relevant wikiproject talk pages or WP:RfC. If criticism is leveled directely at an editor (ie WP:AGF or WP:CIVILITY issues), then stepping back or at least being super-civil may help to calm the debate (see also WP:COOL and perhaps WP:LOVE). A more lessurely approach is less stressful, for Wikipedia:The world will not end tomorrow. David Ruben Talk 03:21, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

March 2008[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on List of gothic metal bands. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. ... discospinster talk 03:04, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You continue to remove sourced entries from the List of gothic metal bands without adequate reason, despite another editor's attempts to come to a compromise. You have not indicated the location of the consensus you claim was reached "months ago". Consider this your final warning: if you remove text from the article again, you will be blocked for disruption. Note also that incivility in any place on Wikipedia, including edit summaries, article talk pages, and here on this talk page, is also grounds for blocking. ... discospinster talk 02:06, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
