CE[edit]

Hi, a couple of weeks ago you copy edited Margaret (singer). Thank you so much for that. Today, I expanded a bit one paragraph in the article (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Margaret_(singer)&diff=prev&oldid=882085385 ) and wanted to make sure there are no mistakes/it isn't too informal. I was hoping you could take a quick look. I didn't want to request another CE as it is only 2/3 sentences so I'm asking here. Hope to hear back from you soon. Best. A barnstar for you![edit]

The Original Barnstar
Thanks for Percy's review, and for catching the schoolboy error. Cheers! ——SerialNumber54129 13:58, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Serial Number 54129: You're very welcome. I enjoyed reading about Percy. I notice another editor has mistakenly removed the periods in the photo captions where they are complete sentences in error. Twofingered Typist (talk) 14:05, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Cookie dough for you![edit]

Cookie dough for you!
For your copy edit of YPF, cleaning up the phrasing and tone, and providing sage advice, here is some cookie dough! (In the film, Gord eats this from a tube while watching Dave and Inez.) Much thanks! – Reidgreg (talk) 15:24, 23 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Copy Editor's 10K Star
This barnstar is awarded to Twofingered Typist for copy-editing at least one individual article of more than 10,000 words during the most recent Guild of Copy Editors' Drive or Blitz. Congratulations, and thank you for your contributions! Reidgreg (talk) 20:59, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Style (Taylor Swift song)[edit]

Hi, thanks for your copy-edit on the article and explaining why you removed authorlinks. I honestly appreciate your work as the article looks neater now. Do you think the article is of FA quality or it needs a further PR? Just a side question but I want to know your opinion for a little reference. — (talk) 12:29, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • @: I honestly don't know how to advise you. I do not get involved in GA/FA reviews. Like everything on Wikipedia, the work is done by volunteers—some are good, some are not. I would suggest you put it up for GA first. I suspect many of the FA reviewers will dismiss it if it has not been through this process first. Best of luck. Article review: Sabana Grande (Caracas)[edit]

Hey. The Wikipedia article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabana_Grande,_Caracas has been vandalised by Jamez42. 100,000 characters have been deleted and several quotes/sources from relevant authors and academicians.

Please, I kindly ask you to review the article.

--QuinteroP (talk) 09:40, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@QuinteroP: Why did you write to 14 editors and didn't ping me? The edit was not vandalism, and you have already opened a peer review of the article. --Jamez42 (talk) 16:20, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Barnstar of Diligence
Thanks very much for your review—as always, I appreciate the pointers you give me for clarification. It's twice the review  :) ——SerialNumber54129 14:12, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Serial Number 54129: You're very welcome. It was a fascinating read on an incident I knew nothing about. I am staggered that adults could do what the men did to those children and get away essentially scot-free! Thanks for the barnstar. Cheers, Twofingered Typist (talk) 14:35, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

March GOCE newsletter[edit]

Guild of Copy Editors March 2019 Newsletter

Hello and welcome to the March newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since December 2018. All being well, we're planning to issue these quarterly in 2019, balancing the need to communicate widely with the avoidance of filling up talk pages. Don't forget you can unsubscribe at any time; see below.

January Drive: Thanks to everyone for the splendid work in January's Backlog Elimination Drive. We removed copyedit tags from all of the articles tagged in our original target months of June, July and August 2018, and by 24 January we ran out of articles. After adding September, we finished the month with 8 target articles remaining and 842 left in the backlog. GOCE copyeditors also completed 48 requests for copyedit in January. Of the 31 people who signed up for this drive, 24 copyedited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

Blitz: Thanks to everyone who participated in the February Blitz. Of the 15 people who signed up, 13 copyedited at least one article. Participants claimed 32 copyedits, including 15 requests. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

Progress report: As of 23:39, 18 March 2019 (UTC), GOCE copyeditors have completed 108 requests since 1 January and the backlog stands at 851 articles.

March Drive: The month-long March drive is now underway; the target months are October and November 2018. Awards will be given to everyone who copyedits at least one article from the backlog. Sign up here!

Election reminder: It may only be March but don't forget our mid-year Election of Coordinators opens for nominations on 1 June. Coordinators normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought of helping out at the Guild, or know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them here.

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Miniapolis, Baffle gab1978, Jonesey95, Reidgreg and Tdslk.

Sentinelese[edit]

Apologies, I noticed you'd taken the tag off but hadn't noticed you'd put it back. I'll leave it alone until you've finished. TSP (talk) 15:19, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Kilgore College Rangerettes[edit]

Hello Twofingered Typist. Based on your review of this article's neutrality, is it time to remove the COI template from the article? Thanks! PhillyHarold (talk) 05:45, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@PhillyHarold: I would suggest you check with user @Valereee: who added the COI template. As long as KingOfKilgore keeps editing the article COI could still be an issue. If you are KOK and have now registered on WP as PhillyHarold you should indicate your affiliation with the Rangerettes on your talk page You should read this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Plain_and_simple_conflict_of_interest_guide through, if you have not done so already. Twofingered Typist (talk) 11:59, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Twofingered Typist, I'm torn. KOK said he was done editing, which I'd been sorry to hear as even on Kilgore College Rangerettes he was a generally reasonable editor, just wanted to add as much detail as possible into the article, and I'd been hoping he'd upload some of his own photos for the article. But the timing of a new editor's arrival and subsequent interest in the page is worrisome. PhillyHarold, if you are KOK, I would highly recommend you disclose this and make a note on the userpages of both accounts. It's not by any means forbidden to have two accounts -- numerous editors do, for various reasons -- but not if it's done to hide a conflict of interest. --valereee (talk) 12:37, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello to you both. I am not KingOfKilgore, but I was a random editor a few years back. I do not remember the user name I had at the time. My name is Richard, and I'm originally from Philadelphia, PA, but make my home now in southern Louisiana. The Harold part of my user name is an homage to my paternal grandfather. The better question to ask would have been, when is it appropriate to remove a COI template from an article, any article? Hope this clears things up. PhillyHarold (talk) 05:51, 21 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
PhillyHarold, any editor can remove a COI tag once they're satisfied they've checked the article thoroughly to ensure neutrality and the COI editor has stopped directly editing. It's fine if KOK comes back and makes edit requests on the talk page; they just shouldn't directly edit that particular article. --valereee (talk) 09:25, 21 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Valeree, Thank you for this information. PhillyHarold (talk) 10:21, 21 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
