Speedy deletion of Teachingbooks

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Teachingbooks, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. — ceranthor (strike) 20:18, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} I can't find the "move" button to rename this article correctly: Teachingbooks should be TeachingBooks.net --Twopointoh (talk) 18:24, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Twopointoh. You can't move articles until you are what we call an 'autoconfirmed' user. That takes four days. You will be able to move the article then. If it's urgent, I can move it for you now. Also, please see below for a lot of very useful links that will help you quickly learn the ins and outs of editing Wikipedia. Welcome to the project! I received your email. My initial hunch is that links to this site would be construed as spam. It's too bad it's a commercial site, if the relevant material were hosted by a reputable university department or reputable non-profit, it would be much easier to link to. I'm not saying we can't use commercial sites as references, only we have to be very careful and weigh the value of the material against WP:NOT, WP:SPAM, and other guidelines and policies. If you do not have a conflict of interest please feel free to make the changes yourself. If you do have a conflict of interest, please paste your recommended changes along with a declaration of a COI on the article talk page and I and other editors who watch the page will see them and act on them.

I'll look into this some more, but I'm thinking probably not, particularly if there is more than a single link to that site involved. A specific link may be worth discussing on the article's talk page.

You'll note that I've been careful to leave details out. This is out of respect for your privacy not anything against the site you want me to look at. If you like, I can post the content sans addresses here or on the article talk page, or you may do the same. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 22:27, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
