References[edit]

Hi,

The references to The Display Team article need to be reliable and verifiable rather than links to random sites that may or may not mention the band. Readers need to be able to verify claims made in the article . Blogs etc. will usually not be considered reliable enough to count as a reference. Has the band been mentioned in any local papers, magazines etc.? These will establish a stronger case for notability. Quality rather than quantity is the name of the game. They're not random sites they're where I got the information for the articleU1234u (talk) 23:59, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You used this link as a reference. You need to link directly to the information. I searched the sites used for references but could not find the band mentioned. Lame Name (talk) 00:18, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have an actual date for the Tom Robinson BBC 6 Music show? That again will add weight to the article.Lame Name (talk) 23:31, 13 December 2008 (UTC)yes, i added itU1234u (talk) 23:59, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok - If you get the article back here then that will be a valuable start to build on. Lame Name (talk) 00:18, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Following your repeated removal of the notability and reference tags I have again speedy deleted the article as an A7 (no meaningful assertion of importance or significance). If you would like me to put the deleted content into your userspace, where you can build and source it further, please let me know. Gwen Gale (talk) 23:37, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would but would like to know how I can know when it meets your criteria.U1234u (talk) 23:59,U1234u (talk) 00:06, 14 December 2008 (UTC) 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

please read this very carefully[edit]

I've put the deleted content here in your userspace at User:U1234u/sandbox.

Please ask me if you need help. Gwen Gale (talk) 00:01, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All the inline citationos I put in first time around were deleted, so I added them at the bottom. Can I have my article in my user area please?. ThanksU1234u (talk) 00:04, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There were no inline citations and none of the references at the bottom which I saw pointed to a web page which indeed mentioned the band. Please, for the third time, read Wikipedia's pages about inline citations and reliable sources. Gwen Gale (talk) 00:07, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The first time I created the page there were inline citations. These were removed and it said I had not referenced my article and had to do so so I did. Anyway, this is all a little tiresome. I would like the page back in my user area now if that's ok so I can find the pages on the websites I cited where the band is mentioned and hope that it meets your approval. Ta 00:10, 14 December 2008 (UTC)U1234u (talk)

I've now put the earlier version at User:U1234u/sandbox2. Although it does have inline citations, none of them point to web pages which mention the band (MySpace is not a reliable source). Gwen Gale (talk) 00:23, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would have preferred the later version bu ok. Also, I just saw this and I wrote on your page asking you where it was before I read it...whoops!. I think I need to go to sleep.U1234u (talk) 00:39, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Again, please read what I post carefully :) or I won't be able to help you. I have put both versions here in your user space, the later one is at User:U1234u/sandbox. Gwen Gale (talk) 00:43, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help Tomorrow?[edit]

I have to work in the morning so am sleeping now but I will be back tomorrow to offer help if you want/need it Lame Name (talk) 00:30, 14 December 2008 (UTC) Was this directed at me?U1234u (talk) 00:38, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is your talk page. Everything here is directed at you. Lame Name (talk) 19:22, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well I thought so, but I wasn't sure why you were being so nice and offering to help me! I'm going to try to make the article better. i really love this band!

Most people here are nice and helpful. You can always find some WikiLove or just a Cup Of Tea if needed. I would suggest starting with a short and well referenced article. Once it is established it will not attract so much attention and can be gradually expanded. I'll pop back and see how it is going - or leave a message here if you need help with anything. Good luck. Example articles[edit]

Hi again - take a look at UXB (band) and Middle finger salute articles as an example of the kind of thing you could aim for to establish an initial article. Lame Name (talk) 17:55, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ok how's it looking? it's in my sandbox. short and sweet. can i put it up? U1234u (talk) 19:48, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looking good[edit]

Looking stronger - but still needs better references. Has there been any coverage in the music press or even local papers... gig reviews/interviews etc.?

I did find they had played Rhythms of The World with reference on the BBC page which could be worked into the article along with "Have toured widely/internationally..." that kind of thing. Search Wikipedia for any of the festivals that you had listed and see if they have an article that can be linked into the text. Lame Name (talk) 23:06, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can I put it up yet? I think it has reliable references and is short and sweet and to the point, just like you wanted.

I have no say in such things - I was only making suggestions. I think there was a block put on the page when it was deleted so you need to ask Gwen Gale if she is prepared to reconsider. I just noticed this exchange about a band which is similar position to your situation. You can but ask and see what she says.
The names of the band members should not be bold and the LastFM and blogspot references will be disregarded. I think it will still struggle to show notability without any press coverage. Is anyone going to release the album? Lame Name (talk) 21:30, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well there isn't as extensive a list of gigs available elsewhere except on LastFM. What about the press coverage in rock sound and beingplayed on 6music and kooba radio as well as local radio? I don't know who is going to release the album, they haven't made that information available. It's rumoured that they're going to be playing the Mighty Sounds Festival in the czech republic with the mad caddies again in 2009... You should see them live. They are definitely notable! haU1234u (talk) 14:12, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Let's try this[edit]

Please see my comments at User_talk:Gwen_Gale#The_Display_Team, thanks. Gwen Gale (talk) 14:45, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
