Why I created the template and what I want to change[edit]

This template was created as a temporary (?) replacement for Template:User Christian. In case that template is restored to its previous glory, I plan to differentiate Template:User Christian generic by changing the text to something like" "This user is a Christian but does not wish to be identified with any church" or "This user is a Christian but does not wish to disclose his church affiliation, if any". The change of template purpose[edit]

I know that I do not own this template. However i cannot understand why Cyde did not create a new one instead of changing the purpose of this one. "This user is a Christian" and "This user is interested in Christianity as an object of study" should be two separate templates as they users they describe are not identical sets.

However, I do appreciate that this time you haven't changed the symbol of Christianity into a NPOV one. Thank you! Friendly Neighbour 06:23, 18 May 2006 (UTC) Friendly Neighbour 06:23, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Identifying with a specific religious belief is a violation of T2. The only way to save it is to change the wording to "interested in". --Cyde Weys 06:26, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The way you put it, I'm probably in violation of T2 just by the fact of my existence as a sentient being with "an abstract set of ideas, values, or experiences developed as part of a cultural matrix". But I see what you mean. Though I do not agree with the recent T1->T2 policy change, I respect it. This is the reason I will not revert your edit.
Generally I have enough of this userbox conflict you pulled me in (yes, this was one of the side-effect of your unwise NPOV symbol of Christianity). I've said on WP:MACK that I'm OK with moving userboxes to userspace as long as it doas not mean the userbox wars will simply evolve into category and userspace wars. No no no, don't be silly, you're not in violation of T2. T2 only applies to templates, not people. If you want to say that you're a Christian on your userpage, go ahead. But we're dealing with a template right now. --Cyde Weys 07:44, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm really glad we've finally found some common ground. Friendly Neighbour 07:56, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I deleted "as an object of study" from the template. I think a user can express his/her interest in Christianality in general. Hunter 18:03, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Correct capitalization[edit]

The correct spelling of this template is {{user christianity}}, not {{user Christianity}}, so an admin should move it back to its original name there. -Silence 11:29, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
