Notability of ALON Project[edit]

A tag has been placed on ALON Project, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you feel that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -- lucasbfr talk 18:00, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: No this isn't a personal page[edit]

Hi, first of all sorry for the confusion. I must admit that the (automated) message I left you is too broad to be easily understood in your case. I tagged your article for deletion, and this decision was endorsed by an admin as you can see in the deletion log. It was deleted on the grounds it was An article about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject.. We have certain criteria subjects need to meet to be included in Wikipedia. I invite you to read them. I think your project, while being a good idea IMO, does not meet these criteria. I you still believe ALON Project is notable enough to be included, I suggest you to ask the deleting admin, User:Metros232, to review his decision. -- lucasbfr talk 18:23, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: What is your problem?[edit]

Hi again. As I said, I don't believe the subject is notable enough to be included with Wikipedia. I am not shifting the blame, just stating that my deletion proposal was endorsed by someone else. If you disagree, please talk with one of the admins that deleted the page (I am in no way affiliated with the second deletion). You can also seek a Delerion Review but I have to warn you that the outcome will probably be an endorsing of the deletion. I don't think it is funny to delete someone's work, but I think this is a necessary process of Wikipedia. If you have further questions, don't hesitate to drop a note on my talk page. -- lucasbfr talk 18:44, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Warning[edit]

A tag has been placed on ALON Project, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how ALON Project is different from the previously posted material, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on Talk:ALON Project saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we request you to follow these instructions. RobJ1981 18:48, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apple Newton Software[edit]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Apple Newton Software, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.

Regarding your edits to Newton-related articles in general, please re-read the policy pages WP:NOT and WP:LINKS. Though all the content you've added is interesting, much of it is not really encyclopedia material. Wikipedia is not a directory of useful Web links or how-to guides. -- Rbellin|Talk 18:01, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
