Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent contribution removed content from Virginia Tech massacre. Please be more careful when editing articles and do not remove content from Wikipedia without a good reason, which should be specified in the edit summary. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Please stop including this Facebook group in the article - the group is a non notable subgroup on a social networking site and, as such, fails several of Wikipedia's core policies for inclusion. If you have a reliable source (such as a newspaper article or other official statement) confirming the death of this person, you are free to re-add their name to the victim's list. Thank you, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Natalie 03:07, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Don't feel too rushed to add a list of victims. There is a discussion on the talk page about holding off on this until a complete list is released from the state of Virginia or similar. This is still breaking news - there's no need to rush any one part of it. It seems like this person may have been a friend of yours; if so, I'm sorry for your loss. Natalie 03:28, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
We were typing to each other at the same time. That source is borderline reliable - it is a newspaper, but it is only using the Facebook group and one friend as a source. I would suggest taking a look at the discussion about a list of victims, and consider waiting until an official list is released by state authorities. Natalie 03:29, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding edits to Virginia Tech massacre[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, Uifz! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule facebook\.com\/.+, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links policy for more information. If the link was to an image, please read Wikipedia's image tutorial on how to use a more appropriate method to insert the image into an article. If your link was intended to promote a site you own, are affiliated with, or will make money from inclusion in Wikipedia, please note that inserting spam into Wikipedia is against policy. Notability of[edit]

A tag has been placed on [[:]], requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --EarthPerson 03:55, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Chovtech.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Chovtech.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:13, 19 April 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Resurgent insurgent 03:13, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth, but you tagged Image:Cho101.jpg with {{PD-self}}. Could you clarify the circumstances under which the picture was taken? Specifically, could you confirm that you, personally, are indeed the photographer and that it is not a derivative work of a news media photo, facebook photo, or any such thing? Thanks. --BigDT (416) 03:28, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see in one of your edit summaries that you say the image is from a friend. That's fine, but please understand that Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others. We cannot use the image unless your friend will (1) confirm that he/she is the author, (2) certify that it really is Cho and (3) agree to release the image under a free license - either into the public domain or under the GFDL. Please see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for sample letters of request and more information. He/she can remain anonymous - that's fine - but we do need that permission to be confirmed. Can you have your friend email permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org with the above information? Optionally, you can just email me and I can pass it on. Thanks. --BigDT (416) 04:06, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

People, the flash shadow of the guy on the left is to his right, and the shadow of the guy on the right is to his left. Thats not possible, hence the photo is a fake. The blends round the top of the head are a giveaway too.

Found this on the net about more on this topic, in response to others who believe this photo could be "photo shopped"

quote: Originally posted by Karilla Definitely photoshopped. You can see not only in the shoulder join, but also in the fact that the shadows caused by the edge of the faces are BETWEEN them. This could only be accomplished with two light sources, yet the catch-light in the eyes reveals only one flash.

That's poor reasoning... no offence meant

The fact that you can see shadows from the edge of their faces is because the lightsource is not from the camera. You are right that there is only one source... but this source is a little behind the camera. Or... it could just be an SLR camera with that silly little build flash they have. The SLR lens would still have a greater field of view than that small flash they have as standart.

This in turn means... the amount of the wall that the light source can "see" is smaller than what the camera can see.

I know this for a fact... practical everyday experience from my job.

Now about the shoulders... that is also genuine. The reason being that guy on the right in simply leaning in behind guy on the left, forcing guy on the left to lean forward a bit which you can also see by his natural forward tilt of his head.

The shade in lefthand corner is a photographers mistake... simply from not paying attention. I even do that once in every 1000 shots... so no biggy there.

User:Vsion[edit]

Please do not introduce any form of vandalism to the userpages of other users, as you did to User:Vsion. Thank you. Natalie 04:01, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First and foremost, the sourcing requirements don't apply to userpages at all. Secondly, those are awards given by other users, which can easily be verified by looking at their talk page history. Finally, please read the article Wikipedia:Do not disrupt Wikipedia to illustrate a point. Natalie 04:05, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, when you post on someone's talk page, please put your post on the bottom of the page. You can do this easily by clicking the plus sign at the top of any talk page. Also, please sign your posts by typing ~~~~ or clicking the button that says "sign your name" under the edit window. Thank you. Natalie 04:08, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Natalie 04:11, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you click on my user page or user talk page, you will see a column on the bottom left that has a bunch of links. One of those links says "E-mail this user". Click it and you will get an email form to email me. Not all users have email set up, but since I'm an admin it's highly recommended. Natalie 04:15, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just FYI, I'm going offline in a minute, so if you email me I won't answer until tomorrow. I have an early class, so I need to get to bed. Natalie 04:17, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's actual email, but it goes through the site first to protect email address. Otherwise vandals could get people's email addresses and spam them or harrass them. If someone sends me an email through the site, I get their email address, but they don't get mine until I respond. It also prevents email addresses from being harvested by spambots.
