Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Infra Logarithm Function, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. - The prod tag that I added to the article has been removed by another user, so I have started a discussion of the articles Ultra power, Ultra Exponential Function and Infra Logarithm Function at the WikiProject Mathematics talk page. I believe that the function that these articles are describing is more commonly called the hyperpower or tetration function, and it is already adequately covered in our article on tetration. Ultra exponential function[edit]
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Ultra exponential function, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. feedback on your edits[edit]
Hello, it looks like you have not edited on Wikipedia before, so I am taking the liberty of explaining a few things in great detail.
Wikipedia has a large number of policies and guidelines. They are generally considered binding in the sense that if you do not follow them then you have to give good reasons for that. Initially it is quite hard to get everything right, and that's why we have the guideline "Please do not bite the newcomers".
You created an article ultra power, the first sentence of which was exactly the first sentence in the abstract of M.H. Hoosmand's paper. If this happened without the publisher's consent it may have been a copyright violation, even if you are the author. If you are the author of that paper, you should certainly look at the policy on conflict of interest, which applies in this case.
There were two principal problems with this article:
- An article for this topic already exists, under the name tetration. Having parallel articles is generally considered a bad thing and there is a policy against doing it intentionally. It also has a section on accidental duplicate articles.
- The term "ultra power" as a synonym for tetration does not seem to be widely used. (In fact, it looks as if Hooshmand introduced this term, perhaps to avoid the inherent ambiguity in the more common term "hyper power", which is discussed in the tetration article. But I can only speculate on these things before I can, hopefully, read the article itself tomorrow.) The term very likely does not pass the notability conditions required by the guideline WP:N. (See also the guideline WP:NEO on neologisms and the policy WP:SOAP.)
Later you created two more articles, ultra exponential function and infra Logarithm Function, and copied the text of your previous article into them. These are more content forks relating to non-notable neologisms, but you probably did this only because you did not know about redirects. (See WP:EDIT.)
RHaworth turned two of your articles into a redirect to the third. Since the term ultrapower, also sometimes in the spelling "ultra power", is already in wide use in mathematics, with a completely different meaning (related to cartesian products of algebraic structures and to ultrafilters), I turned your first article ultra power into a redirect to the article on that subject.
As a result of a discussion among several mathematicians (see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Mathematics#"Ultra_power"_etc.), Arthur Rubin tagged [1] the article for deletion. You removed the tag without giving any reason for doing so. (The easiest way would have been to write a few words into the "edit summary" field, which is below the big text field, when you removed the tag.)
If you really think that your article conforms to Wikipedia's policies, please explain why you think so. The best place to do this is on the article's talk page, but we will also find it if you comment here or in the previous discussion. If you do not do this soon you can be certain that somebody will start the article for deletion (AfD) process to get a community consensus for deletion. Of course, if, based on the new information, you decide that you would prefer to contribute your knowledge to the tetration article instead, we would all be very happy. --Hans Adler (talk) 15:59, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

- I have been reading your recent edits, and the ultra exponential function page you created. While I like the approach of using uniqueness conditions instead of a piecewise function, reading past the typo and the failure to define (x) and [x], the function you describe is exactly the same as the super-exponential function using the "linear approximation" of tetration, and thus it does not deserve a separate page.
- I admire your support of researching iterated exponentials, but the pages you created focus too much on terminology, and very little on content. According to Bromer, Wassel, Rubstov, Romerio, myself, and others, the super- prefix is the standard prefix for tetration, not the ultra- prefix (which is only used once). Wikipedia was not designed for recommending terminology. If you want to learn more about tetration and its related functions, or you would like to suggest what terms to use, then please join the Tetration Forum.
