Thaker pic[edit]

Hi apparently you say your the editors at the Vedeha website , but this pic - do you own it, did you tale it yourself? Have you got the original? as the one you are uploading appears to be a cut and copy from the web.http://www.videha.co.in/new_page_27.htm - Off2riorob (talk) 00:09, 6 May 2011 (UTC) Although I already answered it when the photo was removed by one of wikipedia editors last time and then was reverted when I gave the explanation. However I am saying again that this photo was photographed by me and was uploaded to www.videha.co.in with low resolution using the website designer. The high resolution original photo was uploaded to wikipedia and then also the wikipedia editor objected that the photo seemed same as that was on www.videha.co.in; after that I provided the above explanation that I am Asst. Editor of videha and I uploaded the photo there and the picture at wikipedia is the full resolution photo of that picture; however at the same time alongwith the explanation I uploaded another photo; but the explanation was accepted by the wikipedia editor and this photo was reverted back to its place. This photo and that photo at http://www.videha.co.in/new_page_27.htm both belongs to me. regards--Umeshberma (talk) 17:46, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The file was reverted and I was told not to overwrite files, see the decision at [[1]] [Nuvola apps important yellow.svg I noticed that you uploaded a file using the name File:GajendraThakur.jpg. A file by this name already existed on Commons. Overwriting an existing file should not be done except when making minor, uncontroversial corrections, so the file has been restored to its original version. If the file you attempted to upload is within our project scope and is in the public domain or published under a free license, please upload it again under a different name. Thank you!

For more information, see Commons:Avoid overwriting images with new uploads.

However I am changing the file at http://www.videha.co.in/new_page_27.htm as many people have many problems with it. Regards.--Umeshberma (talk) 19:32, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As the file was reverted so I thought the chapter is over, I was then ready to replace that file with another one, but the editor was kind enough to revert it. But now I it has come up again, so i changed the file at http://www.videha.co.in/new_page_27.htm. thanks and regards --Umeshberma (talk) 19:41, 6 May 2011 (UTC) Copyright permissions sent to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. thanks.--Umeshberma (talk) 05:18, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki editing[edit]

Hiya

I see you've been contributing to the Maithili article and related pages. It would be helpful to other editors if you included a short edit summary with each change. There is no need to remove red-linked text for links to wiki pages that don't currently exist - if you mention something that you feel should / would have an article in the future, then these can be left - there are people who monitor red-linked subjects to see whether to create them.

Best wishes

Martinlc (talk) 10:03, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ok, got it.--Umeshberma (talk) 10:09, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the additions to Gajendra Thakur - when you include quotes from other writers these should be provided with full sourcing (so if it's in an article, listing the article, publication date etc) - otherwise it's unverifiable and shouldn't be included. I get the impression that the Maithili language writing community is small and not well-represented in institutions, which may be why finding good sources is hard. Martinlc (talk) 10:42, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Martinlc, I have added the references from various sources, I am also localising Maithili Language in Wiki and have just completed 500 most used messages last night. You will soon find representation of Maithili in institutions. However I am sure that the volumes of manuscripts that Gajendra Thakur has deciphered and transliterated, this kind of work if made in English, would make the person Head of the Department of Geneologists/ ethnology at US and European Universities. Regards..--Umeshberma (talk) 10:58, 9 May 2011 (UTC) However having said this, as most of his work is in digitized form and available online it won't be difficult to assess the works, assess the devotion/labor to save one's literary history and cultural references; even with little source of references the works are here for the world to be assessed independently also.--Umeshberma (talk) 11:05, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removing AfD template[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Gajendra Thakur. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. This is an automated message from a bot about this edit, where you removed the deletion template from an article before the deletion discussion was complete. If this message is in error, please report it. Snotbot  t • c »  23:24, 10 May 2012 (UTC) It is an error because this template was earlier placed and after consensus it was removed (you may see it in archive), the same comments I have given again.--Umeshberma (talk) 04:24, 11 May 2012 (UTC) It is in respect of Articles of deletion / Gajendra Thakur. As if it happens again and again it is like a system breakdown.--Umeshberma (talk) 04:46, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
