I am trying to discuss with you your edits on the Talk page, have you not noticed? Yet you keep deleting things off the page. Your behaviour is rude. You've deleted the vast majority of the article, and it's hard not to believe you are just trying to find any excuse to delete things. I mentioned other problems in the Talk page. Please discuss there RB972 22:10, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I delete things I find that should be deleted, which is what will continue to happen as you and I continue to edit this biography. Take no offense to it, it is simply part of the process of working collaboratively on a project. Anything that would pass by professional standards, such as in a university or for a major publication, I will not delete. See you in the talk page... Uptional 22:14, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

At Talk:Jung Myung Seok, you said Go and listen to Jung speak, or ask to have some of his teachings explained to you. Don't rely on the testimony of an anonymous person, but instead look for a follower of his whom you perhaps have a relationship with, whom you can vouche for, and ask them for truth.

Your statement requests that other editors violate WP:NOR. Please cease suggesting this. If you are not willing to abide by this rule, please stop editing Wikipedia.

Further, I strongly recommend that you (re)read WP:NPOV and follow it. And your posting of a lengthy defense of the subject of the article, on this talk page, is a violation of Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines; they are argumentative rather than focused on improving the article in compliance with policies such as the first two I cited, as well as WP:V and WP:RS. Talk pages are not, repeat, not to discuss the merits of an individual; they are discuss whether the content of the article follows Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Wikipedia is not a debating society; it is a place where encyclopedia articles are written. Please focus on contributing constructively to the article, and nothing else. -- John Broughton | (♫♫) 20:05, 25 January 2007 (UTC) Subscript text[reply]

Responding to the questions you posted here:

  1. I'm not certain on this one. However the implication at this link (see point #10) is that recreations of charts are okay.
  2. Generally speaking, the use of copyrighted photos of living persons is not permitted on Wikipedia since a free replacement could be created (see point #12 at the link above). Therefore, on its face neither the current photo nor the one you suggest using are acceptable since both are copyrighted. However, this is not an absolute rule. There are situations where a free image of a living person can't reasonably be created and in those situations we can use copyrighted images. I see that another user has proposed that a person in police custody (as I believe Jung currently is) would qualify for such an exception. I don't know whether that's a good enough argument but it's certainly worthy of consideration.
  3. Linking to external sites that use copyrighted works (or portions thereof) in an infringing manner is not allowed. However, merely putting copyrighted text on a website is not necessarily infringing - Fair Use allows people to use portions of copyrighted works for certain purposes (e.g. criticism; commentary) without requiring the copyright holder's permission and Wikipedia can link to such sites. To give an example, it would not be acceptable to link to an external site containing the entire screenplay of 2001: A Space Odyssey, but it would be acceptable to link to a site that uses portions of that screenplay for film criticism purposes. On a separate issue, there is also the question of whether an external link provides information that is both reliable and improves the article. Links to some random person's blog, or to a web forum, are generally not considered useful and routinely get deleted on that basis, irrespective of whether or not they contain copyrighted material.

I hope this helps! -- Hux (talk) 03:16, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
