Article advice[edit]

Hi there! I hope you got my email. Here are some tips on your article you are working on:

  1. Don't capitalize the name Bath Fitter. It's not good writing format, and makes it look more like a press release. Unless the company spells the name "Bath Fitter" in all capital letters, and from my Googling, they don't, then you shouldn't write it like that. (Reminds me of the old internet adage: if you write in capitals you are yelling on the internet :)
  2. Remove the first header for Bath Fitter. The first paragraph will be the lede for your article, so you don't need a section header (i.e. ==Bath Fitter==)
  3. This sentence part: "BATH FITTER created its 1st manufacturing" It should be "first manufacturing," per writing standards.
  4. In the public involvement section:
  • "BATH FITTER has been recognized many times for their involvement in various community efforts and events." - Remove this sentence. It sounds promoting and "peacocky".
  • Mix up the language. You start each sentence here with "In whatever month and the year" and it just sounds like a resume.
  • Remove the "trademark" symbol from The Pharmaprix Weekend to End Women’s Cancers™.
  • If I was going to write this section I would keep it as bland and boring (sorry, but, it's an encyclopedia!) at this time. I'd write it to simply say that in 2011 Bath Fitter sponsored three different non profits. No need to get into how much, as it doesn't provide much information for the reader (it's not encyclopedic) and only makes Bath Fitter look like they are a wonderful charitable company. And even if they are, we can't have it promotional sounding on Wikipedia. People can look it up on Bath Fitter's website or through the sources if they want more information on how much the company donated.

So those are my tips! I hope you don't mind my critique. I want your article to succeed. I'm quite familiar with the company, as my sister used their services for her bathroom. Ha! Happy editing. Sarah (talk) 20:09, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice Sarah! I went ahead and made those changes. I appreciate your help. Upwordsem 15:01, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou for your enquiry on my Talk page. I declined your article because we need to see multiple examples of independent, reliable, in-depth sources to prove the company is notable enough for Wikipedia. The NYT article at least gives a few lines to Bath Fitter. However, the BusinessWeek page is a business listing only, as is the TN.gov page. Though I can see you've linked to the text of a government Bill that was written about Bath Fitter, I cannot see any evidence it was raised or passed. Sionk (talk) 13:47, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
See my second response. Maybe it will be worth asking for independent advice at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk. Sionk (talk) 16:19, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
