File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Scovillsign.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Puffin Let's talk! 15:08, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

[edit]

Hi, you can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~. I'm afraid that I'm going to take it down again for the following reasons

  • It did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts or show that it meets the notability guidelines. It is now wikipedia policy that biographical articles about living people must have independent verifiable references. As a matter of policy, all biographies of living people will be deleted if they do not have such references. Her own websites are not independent.
  • The fact that their are no links to Wikipedia articles about her books does not help her notability
  • The article was partly copied or closely paraphrased from here], which asserts copyright ownership. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright isn't sufficient.
  • It was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of claims without supporting in-line references include best known for... authored numerous articles... helped thousands of new and aspiring meeting professionals to "design the perfect meeting."... First Place in the Writers' Network of South Florida... essential nightlife magazine.
  • A rave review is quoted in full, without a verifiable source. This is very spammy. No mixed or negative reviews?
  • I'm not sure why there was a protection tag on it when it wasn't protected

Hope this helps, it's tough until you've learned the ropes Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:10, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You have an obvious conflict of interest when it comes to editing articles about this subject, but you really need to look at the notability criteria I've linked above. Basically, if you can't show that your friend meets those criteria, it's a non-starter. If she does, you need to get the independent sources together, and write a neutral article in your own words. You could do a draft here. If you let me know when you do , I'll be happy to comment if you wish. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:45, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The images have problems too. The one from her web page is clearly copyright, and neither that or the signature were produced before 1923. You can only easily post images that you own the copyright to. Take a photo of Dawn and upload that Jimfbleak - talk to me? 17:00, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
