August 2010[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Trans Cat. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Trans-Cat/123517417670761?ref=ts.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 13:35, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Validus. I have deleted Trans Cat, as it did not indicate how it may be important. There are thousands of webcomics and few are of note, so such topics can be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. You can claim that Trans Cat is "popular", but you will need a secondary source to back this up. Marasmusine (talk) 13:37, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Responding to your questions at the (deleted) Trans Cat talk page[edit]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I think you may have the wrong impression of how the encyclopedia works. Wikipedia has a number of different policies relating to inclusion in the encyclopedia; the most important one that you might want to read is WP:N, which discusses something called notability. Basically, this policy says that Wikipedia is never the first (or even second, or third....) place that should report on something. Wikipedia requires that all subjects of articles be notable. Notability is usually established by significant coverage in reliable sources--that is, newspapers, magazines, reliable journals, books, etc. It seems from your description of Trans Cat that your comic doesn't qualify. In fact, very very few websites ever qualify--only those that have been written about in other, reliable places. Also, I think you asked whether or not the "user place" would let people read about your work and possibly edit it, and the answer to that is also no. The policy governing user pages is WP:UP, and it states that user pages are to be used primarily for things related to your work on the Wikipedia project. It can be okay to include a few sentences about your real life, but user pages cannot be used to promote other sites, works, or projects. As another policy says Wikipedia is not a web host. If you have any questions, feel free to post here or on my talk page. Qwyrxian (talk) 13:44, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not vandalize pages, as you did with this edit to User talk:Marasmusine. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. Qwyrxian (talk) 13:45, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

Hi; I'm afraid whether or not something stays is not up to me. There are a set of guidelines under Wikipedia:Notability which articles have to meet. New articles get checked, and if they dont meet the guidelines, they are usually deleted. Administrators are responsible for deletions, and are usually very experienced in judging material suitable for an encyclopedia. If your article has enough external information to meet notability (eg reviews and interviews outside wikipedia & not directly by the subject) then it will be kept. (be aware that wikipedia is supposed to be neutral, so you shouldnt be writing about your own work as its seen as a conflict of interest)

Also, you page is where you can include information about yourself. You need to be a little careful about putting too many things related to your external projects as if they look like advertising as they will be removed (so its not the ideal place for a fanpage). Hope this helps Clovis Sangrail (talk) 13:45, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
