Hi and welcome to the Wikipedia. I see that you have started your career here rather aggressively by changing a lot of text in Puankhequa. In one of the cases you simply misread the sentence. "The Swedes were the last nation to engage in the East India trade", this means that they were the last of the East India trade companies to start trading, not that they were the last nation to trade there. This can also be supported by other sources. I'm reverting your edit and clarifying the sentence, but please be more careful what you remove. cart-Talk 06:44, 29 April 2017 (UTC)
I see, I read this incorrectly. But if that is the case, then it is still incorrect, because the Prussian East India Company, Imperial East India Company, and several others (Hamburg, Tuscan, etc.) all came later. Moreover, the Danish Asiatic Company, also started two years after the Swedes (1734). The Danes sent a ship to Canton in 1731, but it was not a company ship. And there was a new French East India Company that began trade in 1785, so the Swedes weren't the last to go there. For a summary of all the companies trading in Canton, and the factories they occupied, the years they began and ended, see Van Dyke and Mok, Images of the Canton Factories (2015).

I'm mainly involved in articles about the Swedish East India Company. I have also provided you with a more comprehensive "welcome mat" where you can learn more about how the editing is done here. Thanks very much. I am finding this a bit confusing. I think I have probably read a few of your pages on the SOIC. I am glad someone is doing that work. But I also believe that it is better to say nothing than to post wrong information. And when it comes to the Canton trade, there is a ton of wrong information out there, including books on the SOIC. But things seem to be improving in recent years, with a number of new scholars taking up the topic. I was motivated to begin with Puankhequa, because he is someone whom I have studied for many years, and has been greatly misunderstood and misrepresented in the history books. Thus, I am not surprised so see wrong things posted on Wikipedia. But if I have it in my power to correct those changes, and have the time to do so, then perhaps I can help in a small way. I just need to learn how to do this!
- That's good, but you still need to sign your comments the way I spoke of above. We are sticklers for form here on Wikipedia and communicating the right way is very important.

- BTW, I agree with you that there is a lot of faulty material out there, I've come across some hideous misunderstandings based on insufficient knowledge of language at that time. There is also a lot of neglected material, especially in the Gothenburg University archives where things like correspondence, ships inventories, receipts and all manner of written things are kept. Like these maps of Canton. The Swedes actually sent out a man to map the town but the maps have gone unnoticed so far even though they are some of the very few detailed maps from that time. You may find them interesting, I've translated them. And don'r worry about the confusing part, we've all been there.
