Speedy deletion of Mister Wiki

A tag has been placed on Mister Wiki requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Orphaned non-free media (Image:ABBArel.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:ABBArel.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 00:52, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:RickAstley2007.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:RickAstley2007.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 12:31, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Since this image shows a recognizable image of a person, it is essential that the sign actually reflects the views of the person pictured. Please prove this is the case. Otherwise I will have to ask that this image be deleted. --Gerry Ashton (talk) 20:11, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Mileyworld.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Mileyworld.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NrDg 21:48, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Revert of my edit

Yo

I'd put Just Good Friends (song) up as a redirect to Bad (album) and you reverted it? Presently all of the song's credits are present on the Bad page and the information on the live performance is present, appropriately, on the Bad World Tour page. Meaning the page only exists to inform users of the following information:

"Just Good Friends" is a song from Michael Jackson's 1987 album Bad featuring Stevie Wonder arguing with him over a girl. One of two tracks from Bad not released as a single, it was also one of two not written by Jackson (Terry Britten and Graham Lyle wrote it). Rolling Stone commented that the song started well, but called it a "mediocrity" , blaming this on Jackson's use of songwriters.

The album credits clearly explain that it's from Jackson's 1987 album Bad and that the song features Stevie Wonder. It also includes the writing credits and mentions specifically that only two song were not written by Jackson himself. So the ONLY information present on this page not already on the Bad page is featuring Stevie Wonder arguing with him over a girl and Rolling Stone commented that the song started well, but called it a "mediocrity" , blaming this on Jackson's use of songwriters.

I'd like to change the page back to a revert. As you can tell, there were only two minor sentences not repeated elsewhere, and neither suggest the song's notability anyway. Please respond swiftly so we can deal with this. (The Elfoid (talk) 19:01, 27 February 2008 (UTC))

I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hawaiian Wikipedia. The AFD explains why I think the article should be deleted. I think it is not a notable website. You can argue against it, but trying to get the AFD speedily deleted will not work. (Although full marks for trying.) You are at liberty to use the AFD page to argue for its retention. --Tagishsimon (talk) 01:28, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Dance Mixes

An editor has nominated Dance Mixes, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dance Mixes and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 17:00, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Sockpuppet note

Hey there! Thanks for saying I have a sockpuppet, I have always wanted to have one! :-D Two notes:

  1. Unregistered users can give opinion (we don't vote in AFD, we give opinions looking for consensus). Their opinions can be dismissed by the closing admin, but so can be the opinions from registered users;
  2. A friendly advice: you should not accuse people from sockpuppeting unless you have solid proof of that. An anonymous editing 4 minutes after a registered user does not make him his sockpuppet (because that is failing to assume good faith on the anonymous, which is one of our main policies). The IP comes from Montreal, while I edit from Argentina from either 200.122-127.x.x (my home IPs) or 200.49.x.x (job). I am not sure how often you do that, but before you get used to that, think twice before accusing.

Cheers! -- ReyBrujo (talk) 01:57, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
