Greeks in Albania population[edit]

Hi, I was the one that made the initial edit when I saw the part about "modest estimates". I saw that you changed it to "most" and mentioned the historical numbers. I see that part still says "historically and presently" though, and from what I can see that's an overestimation for the present. I was going to remove that bit so it only mentioned the historical situation. What do you think?

Procakes (talk) 22:28, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, almost every readily available source that talks about Greeks in Albania had the estimation, at the highest mark, at 300,000. Whether historically or present, the sources that exist and you will see many others on different pages relating to Greeks in Albania, Greek people, Albania’s demographics etc state 300,000 as the highest mark and that is true for sources looking at the present. Whether that is the case on the ground or not, today, is a different debate. It should remain, as it is merely explaining the numbers that have been recognised by different sources, across the years. As for the present situation, this article as well as others, make it clear that the true number on the ground is difficult to ascertain due to Albania’s sensitivity regarding ethnic status, self identification considerations, politics and the general corrupt climate that exists in Albania’s census undertaking. Those who rely on this article for information should be exposed to what sources state and that is that the number has been capped at 300,000. Readers should confirm and/or corroborate with further research, over having something clearly stated in numerous sources removed. 125.237.28.111 (talk) 22:34, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the user above. The information should remain as it is relevant to the wider article and context. Varvanitis (talk) 22:37, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Right now it reads like most estimate the number is 300,000, when it's a range and that's the upper bound of the estimate. One of the sources says 200,000 is what most Western estimates are. I think it should be reworded to reflect that as 200,000-300,000 is a large range. Right now it gives the impression that 300,000 is presently what most estimate, rather than just historically. It's more nuanced than that. Procakes (talk) 11:43, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

November 2021[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Kosovo Albanians. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Vanjagenije (talk) 08:55, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
