"Copy approved by VCAA and VTAC"

[edit]

Hello, regarding this edit to Victorian Certificate of Education, what exactly do you mean by "copy approved by VCAA and VTAC"? Are you editing as some official representative of these bodies? pfctdayelise (translate?) 05:36, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please see our policy on Role Accounts, we would encourage you to set up individual ID's for the people in your organization that have an interest in editing Wikipedia, and then do so as private individuals, keeping our policies (including our organization policy and our verifiability policy and our policy on people and organizations editing about themselves) in mind. Specifically, we do not typically have organizations approving or controlling the copy that is written about them, Wikipedia is the encyclopedia that anyone can edit. Thanks for your interest in Wikipedia! ++Lar: t/c 13:09, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gday & thanks for the welcoming messages. pfctdayelise, while I'm making the edits at work & I work for the organisation VCAA that would authorise any wording on this subject, perhaps I shouldn't have put "authorised" in the edit summary; I was aware of the policy re role accounts. The reason I'm not using my personal username here in this context is that

  • I am editing this at work
  • I'm basically a temp here & my role may be replaced by someone else
  • I want any emails re this editing to go to the work email account & not me personally.

That said, is it OK/possible to edit my edit summary so it doesn't imply I'm working for DA MAN? :-)

I'm a believer in Wikipedia's goals & the value of the "anyone can edit" policy. But I'm also aware from a professional POV that the content in this & related articles should be correct & verifiable.

Happy to be advised/discuss.

Hi Jeff, Lar pointed out above about role accounts and our policy, I know this was a while ago and this account may not even be in use anymore but if it is, I would advise you to create an account and edit through that instead :). Let me know if you need any info or help with this. Deon555 (talk) 12:11, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
