Speedy deletion nomination of Trenck family

[edit]

Hello Vdtrenck,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Trenck family for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. --MrScorch6200 (t c) 22:55, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 00:01, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. When Trenck family was tagged by one of the New Page Patrollers it contained only genealogical information, and the tag was reasonable (see Wikipedia is not a directory #2 Genealogical entries). However, you were able to comment on the talk page, actual deletion requires an administrator as a second pair of eyes, you had added further information and, as you will have seen, the speedy deletion nomination was declined.

A useful tip when writing an article, to avoid the danger of premature deletion, is to start on a draft page in your "user space", which would have a name like "User:Vdtrenck/Trenck family". That option is offered on the article creation page, the fifth bullet-point in the box at the top; or you can click on Help:Userspace draft and fill in the title, which will make a draft page for you. That way you can take your time about creating an article and adding references.

There is good general advice at WP:Your first article. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:09, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
