Request for adminship

[edit]

I noticed your request for adminship and just wanted to advise you that you do not seem to have completed the fifth step, which makes your request unlikely to be seen. Since you are obviously considering adminship, you might want to review admin coaching as potentially beneficial to you. At the very least, you should probably read Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship. Familiarizing yourself with those guidelines would be helpful, and ensuring that you meet the traditional requirements would, obviously, increase your chances to succeed. Happy editing. :) --Moonriddengirl 13:20, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Garrod Farms, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Pyrospirit (talk · contribs) 00:05, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Garrod Farms, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Terrx 01:53, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest reading WP:NOTE and WP:SPAM to help you add context to Garrod Farms. You need to write an unbiased description of this farm and establish its notability. --Terrx 02:00, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm interested in reviving the Garrod Farms entry. I think it has relevance, and would be good to have included. I'm new to adding things to Wikipedia. This is the first time I've NOT found what I was looking for. I saw that you originally wrote the entry, so I was wondering how to revive it.

I did find: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2002/08/30/PN158401.DTL which is an article talking about the farm. Additionally it's bordering on the Fremont Older Open Space Preserve, and 120 acres of the farm was either sold or donated to the Midpeninsula regional open space district (probably good to find information linked in about it).

Boxes

[edit]

I see you seem to have already mastered the art of inserting boxes - do you still want some assistance on that? BTW I note you are interested in China and speak some Chinese - it would be interesting to know more. Email me if you like. docboat 01:37, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I took the liberty of adding the header you wanted to the boxes. Play with the format as you please! As for teaching Chinese - nope. My wife is a professional teacher of Mandarin, me, I am a simple speaker. docboat 09:40, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

User Status Indicator

[edit]

Hi Victoria uni,

Saw your note regarding my status indicator. Originally I was using StatusBot, but since that stopped working a while ago, I am now using a customized version of Misza's status switcher script. Basically this script adds three links to the top Wikipedia bar of links that includes in/busy/out to mark your status. If you want the time that you change your status displayed, you can use my version. Leuko 02:26, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, glad to hear you got it working. In order to use my version (with the time stamp), you just need to replace importScript('User:Misza13/statusChanger.js'); to importScript('User:Leuko/statusChanger.js'); in your Special:Mypage/monobook.js file. Leuko 20:47, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I don't know of any good "homework" pictures, but I am sure you will find some on Google image search. As far as adding it in, just add File:Nameofyourimage after busy = in your User:Victoria uni/StatusTemplate. Leuko 02:26, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent RfA

[edit]

I'm sorry, but I've closed your Request for adminship prematurely. Simply put, you've only got 59 edits on Wikipedia; while edit count isn't the only determining factor, and numerous people have their own personal standards that they judge RfA candidates by, there was no chance that the RfA was going to pass.

I'm sorry about this, and hope you don't take it personally. If you continue to contribute to the project in a positive fashion, I'm confident that you could possibly run a successful RfA in the future. You may want to consider submitting yourself to Wikipedia:Editor review for feedback on where to get some good experience, and when you're ready for RfA again, there's a great Wikipedia:Admin coaching program for you to use, as well as a guide to requests for adminship.

If you have any other questions about becoming an administrator, please don't hesitate to ask me. Good luck! EVula // talk // // 06:12, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

it's ok. :) I was being stupid in the first place and not thinking when I applied. I know more about Wikipedia now. :)Victoria uni 05:19, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Horseland concerns

[edit]

Hi Victoria,

Can I make a suggestion? When you feel that part of an article is questionable, you may wish to bring it up on the article's talk page (see Talk:Horseland) rather than inserting bracketed comments into the article. Milto LOL pia 10:42, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You requested zodiac Userboxes and I made them. They're a bit crude, so if you want you can copy the source can edit to suit your taste. Oh yeah, I'm still working on the one about the year of the cat. Here you go:

References on Horseland

[edit]

Hi, Thank you for your note on my talk page. When I say that Horseland needs more references, what I mean is that more reliable sources need to be added for verification. Adding "what you learn by playing the game" is original research and not appropriate for Wikipedia. Everything written in WP needs to have been published by an independent reliable source first. I mean for people that don't play Horseland, there is no way of knowing that the article is factually correct. That's why the policies mentioned exist, so that all editors can fact check every article to make sure that WP is the most accurate encyclopedia possible. Please let me know if you are still confused after reading the linked policies. Thanks, Leuko 05:59, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, if there are no references that someone can cite, then maybe we would have to think of deleting the article because of WP:N and WP:NOR. Leuko 21:10, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  2. Editor-focused central editing dashboard
  3. "Hide trusted users" checkbox option on watchlists and related/recent changes (RC) pages
  4. Real-Time Recent Changes App for Android
  5. Shortcut for patrollers to last changes list

Further, there are more than 20 proposals related to Watchlists in general that you may be interested in reviewing. (and over 260 proposals in all, across many aspects of wikis)

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Note: You received this message because you have transcluded {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}} (user box) on your user page. Since this message is "one-time-only" there is no opt out for future mailings.
