Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Trade Martin, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Producer (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thanks for the images

Hi Viniciusmc. I just want to say thank you for tracking down images from 1970s Billboard ads and uploading to WikiCommons – because they add so much to wikipedia. I've found the pics of Apple Studio, the Band, Derek and the Dominos, etc really useful for articles I've been working on. A big thank you from me ... and please keep adding more! Best, JG66 (talk) 11:19, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. Would you be able to help me ... I want to find some ads that appeared in Billboard during the 1960s & 1970s, for singles and albums by George Harrison. I know the dates for when the ads appeared, but can you tell me which site to go to, so I can search inside the issues of Billboard? (By the way, the dates for the issues I want to access are: 14 December 1968; 20 February 1971; 7 August 1971; 11 March 1972; 12 May 1973; 2 June 1973; 24 August 1974; 21 December 1974; 11 October 1975.) I'd be very happy if you could help. As I say, I just need to know the site and how to search. Many thanks. JG66 (talk) 12:57, 12 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for the link, Viniciusmc. That's just excellent! I've never uploaded anything on wikiCommons before, but I'm thinking it can't be too different from here (on the main encyclopaedia), and it's probably a whole lot easier too. Thanks again! JG66 (talk) 23:32, 12 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, Viniciusmc, it's me again. There's an ad in the same issue of Billboard (25 December 1971) that you accessed for the Delaney & Bonnie picture, and it's one I really need for a couple of articles. (For example, "The Day the World Gets 'Round", to avoid using too much non-free content.) The ad is for the Concert for Bangladesh live album. As you say, the search tool doesn't always work: I only found it by searching "Apple" (well, it's the only word in the ad!), and then it's page 12 out of a number results. So my question is, if you scanned the Delaney & Bonnie pic, do you actually have this issue yourself – and could you scan the whole Concert for Bangladesh ad (preferably in colour)? Sorry to ask, it's just that I've got a book that reproduces the other Harrison Billboard ads from 1970–75, so I can scan those, but I don't have this Dec 1971 ad. Best, JG66 (talk) 02:41, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wow! Thank you so much for doing that ... I can't tell you how helpful it will be in that song article – because now I can remove a whole lot of excess detail that was only there to justify the non-free content. If I could buy you a crate of Brahma (I get the impression you're in Brazil?), I certainly would!
As far as the other ads go, it would be great if you could do them – but I don't want to put you to too much trouble. You've been so helpful already, and also, I've now found a whole lot of Harrison ads from 1976–81 that I hadn't even thought of before (because the book I have covers only Apple Records releases, from 1970 to '75). Anyway, here's a list I put together, from the first half of the 1970s:
  • "What Is Life" ad, BB 20 Feb 1971 (back cover), searched “Manufactured by Apple Records” [1]
  • "Bangla Desh" single ad, BB 7 Aug 1971, p. 13, searched "Apple 1836" [2]
  • "Give Me Love" ad, BB 12 May 1973 (back cover), searched "Apple Single" [3]
  • Living in the Material World album ad, BB 2 June 1973 (back cover), searched "Apple Album" [4]
  • Dark Horse Records ad, BB 24 August 1974, p. 2, searched "race course" [5]
  • Dark Horse album ad, BB 21 December 1974 (back cover), no text search registers, [6]
  • "Ding Dong" ad, BB 4 Jan 1975, p. 2, searched "ring out" [7]

Like I say, if you'd rather not do them, it's no problem at all. All I have to do – and what I will do for ads from 1976 onwards – is follow your clear instructions! Sincere thanks again, Viniciusmc. Best, JG66 (talk) 04:39, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, thanks so much for uploading all those images, Viniciusmc. I was going to do it today, so you've saved me the trouble! Again, I'm very grateful. Best, JG66 (talk) 22:11, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
