I am still learning about editing Wiki pages, but I'll get there. Since I have been a web developer for a few years, the idea of using a different "markup" language doesn't bother me.

I am planning to create a page as an "add on" to an existing page: Bucksnort, Tennessee! As a result of research completed by membes of my family, I know of another Bucksnort, Tennessee which was located in Lincoln County, Tennessee prior to the Civil War. Do you see a problem with this?

Hi Vituperex, you can read Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission to learn how the procedure works. Basically, you have to:

Send an email to the webmaster (that is, yourself) asking for permission to use the text under the GFDL license.
Forward both the email you sent and the answer you received to "permissions AT wikimedia DOT org"
Add the {{confirmation}} template to the article's talk page. I can do this for you if needed.

Hi Mushroom!

The two emails you mentioned with your last reply (to & from the Pamplin.net Webmaster) were forwarded to "permissions AT wikimedia DOT org". I've created two pages (one in error: "Bucksnort, Tennesse (Original)". How to delete?? Thanks!

Also: I've found some images that could stand improvements (to the best of my knowledge, they are "public domain" images). Any chance you could reply with a couple of pointers regarding image updated.

Hi Vituperex, I have deleted the duplicate article (if it happens again, you can put the {{db-author}} template on it and an administrator will delete it). I have also added the {{confirmation}} template to the article's talk page. Regarding the images, please read Wikipedia:Uploading images. Remember that you have to provide:

a source: author, website, publication...
a copyright tag. Please note that images can be used as public domain only if you can prove that they really are (examples: if you made them yourself, if they are very old, or if the author has explicitly released them to the public domain).

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
