Rham Records[edit]

Please be aware of the wp:3RR limit. There are few exceptions. I don't think that removal of unsourced content is one of them. wp:Vandalism is, but I don't think this is the case. Administrators don't take kindly to it. I'll leave a wp:RFPP request. Best to leave it alone if and until the page is protected. Cheers Adakiko (talk) 18:07, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • wp:RFPP#Rham Records Added. Add something informative, if you wish. Cheers Adakiko (talk) 18:13, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • An admin did a partial block of the IP range. See if that helps. If not, need to add / update the RFPP. Adakiko (talk) 18:42, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. The thread is Rham Records. The discussion is about the topic Rham Records. Thank you. Adakiko (talk) 11:27, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Rham! Records from Merseyside ceased operations in 1992. In 2019, Barryls69 incorporated a new company called Rham Records Limited and has been passing it off as the original Rham! Records in order to illegally exploit recordings by A Guy Called Gerald - this is why he keeps removing the text 'defunct 1992', and the '!' from Rham! I am A Guy Called Gerald's business manager. Legal action has been commenced against Barryls69 and his new company in respect of his unauthorised exploitation of A Guy Called Gerald recordings. He has been warned by A Guy Called Gerald's lawyers to cease and desist from altering information in the public domain.Vivibelle (talk) 12:31, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please bring this up on Rham Records. Changing an article name might be considered to be wp:article hijacking in this case. I am going to add a COI notice below. It would be best to make the above statement on your user page: User:Vivibelle. See the guideline at wp:user pages That is required per Wikipedia rules at wp:conflict of interest Adakiko (talk) 19:37, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I see had already left a message on COIN! Cheers Adakiko (talk) 19:39, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also be aware of the Wikipedia policy of wp:No legal threats (NLT). People who do make threats may be wp:blocked. I have only seen an LT and block for LTs made against Wikipedia. Not sure what would happen in a user-user LT. Best regards, Adakiko (talk) 19:50, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest notice[edit]

Information icon Hello, Vivibelle. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Rham Records, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Adakiko (talk) 19:37, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

NLT update[edit]

I would suggest that you might want to strike out your LT mention. Strike this out. Adakiko (talk) 21:06, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Retracted my text possibly perceived as a legal threat. Adakiko (talk) 21:08, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Example above for striking out text and comment as to why. Adakiko (talk) 21:09, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would recommend you strike it out rather than remove it. Especially if someone has responded to it. I'll look up the pertinent page. Adakiko (talk) 21:12, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding modifying your text that someone else has replied to: WP:TALK#REPLIED. Please strike out or use <del>...</del> rather than simply removing. Example deletion: Example deleted text - Leave out the nowiki & code stuff btw. Cheers Adakiko (talk) 21:18, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You should strike out your comment on Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard#Rham Records and anywhere else you may have made one. As the discussion is closed on Deepfriedokra's page user talk:Deepfriedokra#Strange happenings at Rham Records, you might ask Deepfriedokra if you can strike it out in the closed discussion. Ask before you make any changes and tell Deepfriedokra what you want to do.
Funny, I was given a WP:3RR warning on the COIN page as well. That is usually considered "best practice". Cheers Adakiko (talk) 21:23, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Rham! / Rham Records article[edit]

JBchrch at the bottom of wp:COIN#Rham Records questioned if the article was wp:notable enough to have its own article. If you want the article not to be a subject of wp:AFD, you might want to do some work on it. You could copy the article to your sandbox or create the page user:Vivibelle/Rham!. What is notable about Rham!? I am not familiar with WP:CORP and WP:SIRS. The references do need work. help:referencing for beginners is a good place to start. The legal issues might help with notability, btw. You would need to find a wp:reliable source (RS) which is a wp:secondary source and not primary sources such as court filings or wp:original research Cheers Adakiko (talk) 09:41, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Adakiko. Dealings on the legal issues are at an early stage and currently not for public comment. I should also add that the current legal issues do not relate to Rham! from Merseyside (only to the new Rham Records Limited company), so discussion of the same on the original Rham! page would be irrelevant. Full information on the issues is available on Gerald's Crowdfunder at https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/a-guy-called-gerald Vivibelle (talk) 10:00, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please state your COI on your user page[edit]

Per wp:COI and wp:PAID, you should state your relationship to Rham! / Rham Records. I am not sure how decisions are made, but you may risk a wp:block by not disclosing. Adakiko (talk) 09:41, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Adakiko. I have no relationship to Rham! / Rham Records. Rham! doesn't exist anymore, and Rham Records Limited was incorporated by Barryls69 in 2019. I am merely trying to protect the interests of A Guy Called Gerald, who I represent. I have not edited for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything; my edits have been to restore factual information which has been removed/altered by Barryls69. Vivibelle (talk) 09:58, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of edit warring[edit]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Rham! shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Reliable sources[edit]

Many of the sources on Rham! are from discogs.com. Discogs.com is wp:user generated content (UGC), just like Wikipedia. It doesn't meet RS. See WP:RSDISCOGS. Facebook is a wp:self-published source (SPS) WP:RSPFB. The base link is wp:Reliable sources/Perennial sources. If the page has a "login", "register", or "edit" button, it may be UGC and/or SPS. Most anyone can edit it, it is likely not under editorial review, and the content may be questionable.
Recent additions can be deleted, but older ones would normally be tagged with {{User-generated inline}} or {{Self-published inline}}. If an RS source is not added after three to six months, the content can be generally deleted without question. Adakiko (talk) 20:45, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
