Thanks for the photo!

[edit]

Thank you for adding a photo of Lorrie Menconi! So many of the Playmate articles need photos, so it's good to see them added. I would like to point out that you can upload images to Wikimedia Commons for use on all Wikipedias and not just the English version. Thanks again, Dismas|(talk) 04:55, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi... I have no idea what I am doing...clueless... Lorrie is a sweetie and I hated to see her page pictureless.... I have shot over 100 Playmates and know many of them and do hosting and/or web sites for them.

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Reagan Wilson in 2001.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — neuro(talk) 18:57, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have no clue what I am doing. I designated it GNU when uploading and having done that step, thought what was needed to be done was done. Why have that step if it doesn't attribute the picture?

[edit]

In response to your questions about external links, the policies that I base my judgements on are WP:EL and WP:NOT.

WP:EL is the guideline on the external links section of an article. It says that while official sites are fine, and even encouraged, fan sites are listed under the heading of those normally to be avoided.

WP:NOT is the policy on what Wikipedia is not. For instance, Wikipedia is not a dictionary. That is the point of Wiktionary. The basis for my removal of links is generally the part that says "Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links, images, or media files" (emphasis added by me). Linking to a picture of the person, in my opinion, goes against this because a Google image search can give the same result. We don't need links to just anything that a person can find on their own with a simple web search.

Unless it's fairly obvious that the subject of a fan site has direct contact with the maintainers of that site, it's hard to tell one "official" fan site from the next. Many sites claim to be official while they're simply not and they are just biding their time until someone, such as the subject of the site, calls them out for it in a court of law.

Let me preface this next part by saying that I make hundreds of edits a month, possibly as many as a thousand in a heavy month. That being said, I think I recall removing one of the sites that you're referring to. (It would help if you could point out which edits of mine you are questioning me on) Just today, I made some changes to the Lorrie Menconi and Shay Knuth articles. I think these are two that you had some part in. The official site of Knuth proudly displays the words "Celeb-O-Rama" at the top and has ads for other sites like Mr. Skin. No offense intended, but this doesn't strike me as a very "official" looking site. So, I erred on the side of caution and removed the link.

I appreciate any help you can give in improving the Playmate's articles. Sometimes I feel like the only regular contributor to them. In the future, I'd prefer being contacted on my talk page. I have my email address activated here, obviously since you were able to email me, but I prefer to keep email separate from my Wiki-life.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, Dismas|(talk) 05:15, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is this public? Or is this a message that just you and I see? I don't know how detailed of an explanation or how personal I want to get in public. Vividere (talk) 05:14, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, everyone's talk page is public. I'll respond to your email in a bit... Dismas|(talk) 06:36, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Images

[edit]

The photo of Lorrie Menconi is on Commons at File:Lorrie Menconi.jpg. The other two files that you uploaded to en.wikipedia were deleted because they had watermarks that identified them as having come from celeb-o-rama. I don't have admin powers, so I had an admin check into this and that is what he told me. Dismas|(talk) 05:42, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
