wp:aiv reporting[edit]

Thank you for making a report about 220.245.185.136 (talk · contribs · block log) on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. In this case, the user hasn't vandalized since the warning you gave. If they have stopped now, there's no need to block. Thanks though, coelacan — 02:41, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism reversions[edit]

When reverting vandal edits, take care to ensure that your reversion doesn't re-introduce older vandal edits, as happened with your edit here. Thanks. -Amatulic 23:12, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, when requesting a block at WP:AIV, the user must have vandalized after their last warning (not by seconds, but at least minutes). Once you see them vandalize after the final warning, you can request they be blocked. wrp103 (Bill Pringle) (Talk) 23:51, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ok ok, I'll stop doing that. I'm a bit trigger happy, I know. :P vLaDsINgEr 23:56, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem whatsoever. ... discospinster talk 00:44, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Scottish_Parliament_election reverts[edit]

You warned User:Patw06 on his talk page. You then removed the warning because he said he didn't vandalize the page. I think you were right the first time. [1]. I've just asked them to explain this diff if they can.--Cailil talk 01:09, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, I think he/she accidentaly reverted the page to an earlier vandalized page before MartinBot fixed it. Not really vandalism, is it? Anyway, its fine now.vLaDsINgEr 01:11, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Corland County NYS Seal.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Corland County NYS Seal.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 15:05, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

  • Please delete this image ASAP. I made a typo in the title. vLaDsINgEr 15:07, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The page named above is being considered for deletion. Please feel free to take part in the discussion at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Apple. Thank you. John Carter 21:39, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Llama pic[edit]

Thank you very much for comment. I am not a photographer nor an editor. But, I thought I'd throw the picture out there for comments. I see the word artifact quite a bit when folks are describing JPG images. Is there a particular measure for clarity that one should stick with when submitting photos here? --BlindEagletalk~contribs 19:57, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I'm no great photographer myself, but I'll give it a shot. In the general article space, there's no set limits, however, a featured picture has to be the best of the best. Artifacts show up in most JPG files due to compression. They appear as jagged boxes on the edges of lines, discolored spots and fringes all over the image, and blown highlights, where the bright areas of the image are completely white, with no detail. The quality standard for an image is balanced by the value of its content, whether historical or encyclopedic.
If you haven't read these, I suggest that you do, along with looking at the current featured images:
Wikipedia:Featured picture criteria
(Especially the examples of problems)
If this is all redundant, sorry. Thank you for contributing. vlad§inger tlk 20:16, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info. I had read it. I think I understand what they mean by artifacts now. It appears compression of JPG files has a lot to do with artifacts. In the future, when I'm trying to get a better picture, I will turn off compression. Thanks for the info, again.  :-) --BlindEagletalk~contribs 20:25, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kenny Santucci[edit]

Kenny Santucci - Poorly written -personally I don't think it is of much value but some of the other contestments have a longish article - I don't think they qualify for seperate articles I' d suggest merging all the bios into one list page which discusses them -similar to Big Brother -most f the people shouldn't really have a seperate article ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 20:56, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of Fresh Meat contestants for example ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 20:57, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Umm, okay, but I really don't think any one of these bloody contestants on every one of these idiotic reality shows needs an article in the first place. I'll your comment on the original author's page and see what he/she makes of youer suggestion. vlad§inger tlk 21:01, 29 June 2007 (UTC) [reply]

EDIT: Wait, if its already done as you suggested, why did you post this message to me? I'm not writing these...

Nevermind.

Picture Resizing[edit]

Thanks so much! I didn't know how to do that myself, would you mind teaching me how? Thanks again --Samian

  • Check this out. Everything you need for the inline images. For the image I think you are talking about, there is an option in the infobox syntax to set the size. Here's my edit: [2] vlad§inger tlk 02:18, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cut and paste moves[edit]

Please don't cut and paste text to move pages - it causes trouble with licensing and page histories and things. You should have a tab next to the history tab which says "move" - new accounts don't have it, but I think yours is old enough that it should. Please use that instead of cutting and pasting. I've just fixed the "Fatty" move you just did. Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions. Mak (talk) 02:21, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cool, thanks :) Mak (talk) 13:13, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Futures_in_Biotech_logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Futures_in_Biotech_logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 16:59, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Futures_in_Biotech_Old_logo.jpg[edit]

I have tagged Image:Futures_in_Biotech_Old_logo.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 17:00, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Futures in Biotech[edit]

I've nominated Futures in Biotech, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Futures in Biotech satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Futures in Biotech and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Futures in Biotech during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 17:00, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged Image:Windows_Weekly_podcast_logo.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 13:05, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Futures in Biotech Old logo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Futures in Biotech Old logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:13, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To all the above: Fine, okay, I just created the pages and uploaded the images for continuity of the TWiT articles and to get rid of the red links in the template. I don't personally agree with the deletionists here, but I won't rise to this one. After all, the subjects in question weren't exactly important in their own regards, just by association to the network. vlad§inger tlk 01:13, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CIVILITY, GOOD FAITH[edit]

SO VLAD, YOU THINK SOMEONE WHO INSERTS A PORTUGUESE PLAYBOY IN ATLETICO MADRID'S FOOTBALL SQUAD IS TRYING TO HELP???!!!!! I REST MY CASE, MY FRIEND!

SEE YOU AROUND, REST ASSURED THAT I AM TRYING TO HELP, CANNOT SAY THE SAME ABOUT OTHERS, MAN!!!

Okay, okay. That's why I added the part about obvious malicious editing. You seriously need to calm down and stop typing in all caps. Obviously, I know nothing about this particular topic. vlad§inger tlk 02:50, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CIVILITY & GOOD FAITH STANDARDS/INTRODUCING ME[edit]

Hi there VLAD,

One more thing about civility and the reprimands (which are beginning to annoy me, because i feel these "gentlemen" should be not only yelled at, but banned from WIKIPEDIA):

You do not have to understand a lot about football to understand this: some people only like to annoy and disturb, and football WAS, IS, AND WILL BE one of the major sources of discussion (non-violent and violent) in the world today, and these "people" are NOT TRYING TO HELP, BELIEVE ME (THAT "GOOD FAITH STANDARD" ALMOST MAKES ME LAUGH)!!!

For instance: ONE GUY ENTERS OMONIA NICOSIA (CYPRUS FOOTBALL CLUB) AND TURNS ALL THE PLAYERS, COACH AND PRESIDENT INTO TURKISH CITIZENS. As you may know Cyprus and Turkey are, go figure, ill-related countries, well beyond sporting borders. DO YOUTHINK SOMEONE WHO DOES THAT IS TRYING TO HELP BUT DOES NOT KNOW BETTER?? COME ON!! "Interventions" of that sort i have found hundreds, corrected them and told what was in my heart, AND I AM THE ONE GETTING CIVILITY AND GOOD FAITH MESSAGES???!!!

MY NAME IS VASCO AND I AM FROM PORTUGAL, SEE YOU AROUND!

Fair enough. I give up. You just keep screaming. vlad§inger tlk 17:11, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
