A tag has been placed on User:Volume social IO/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Request reason:

I was blocked from contributing because the page I was making, about Geetanjali Salon, was not written in a neutral tone. The original content was biased towards the company. I understand I violated the guidelines and promise not to do it again. I will contribute to the community in future in an unbiased manner. Geetanjali Salon (talk) 13:32, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Thank you for your honesty; however, you won't be unblocked to directly edit about this client or any clients as you have a conflict of interest and failed to declare a paid editing relationship. If all you want to do here is edit about your clients, this is the end of the road for your Wikipedia career. If you want to be an individual, general contributor and edit about the history of your country, or science, or George Washington, or anything not related to your conflict of interest, please tell what that might be and agree to not make further conflict of interest related edits. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 14:42, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

What is your association with the salon you wrote about? What topics do you want to edit about if unblocked? 331dot (talk) 13:35, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your reply. Please note that we work with Geetanjali Salon as their creative agency. We wanted to use Wikipedia as an information platform for them. Since this was the first time we created a page hence, the unfortunate mistake happened from our team. We would want to rectify the same and would revise the entire content in a neutral tone. Additionally, we would need your support and guidance in future.

Please understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not for merely telling about something. Merely telling about something is considered promotional here. Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources say about article subjects that meet Wikipedia's special definition of notability(in this case, the definition of a notable business). Wikipedia is not interested in what an article subject(or its representative) wants to say about itself, only in what third parties say about it. I get that Wikipedia seems like a great way to spread the word about your client's business or enhance internet search results for it, but Wikipedia has no interest in either of those goals. Wikipedia is here to summarize human knowledge for the benefit of humanity. If all you want to do is tell the world about your clients, you should use social media or some other forum where what you want to do is permitted. 331dot (talk) 14:42, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I completely understand your point and agree with the concept as well. I would like to clarify that my statement may have been misinterpreted and I have no intention to promote the business using wikipedia. All we are trying to do here is show what a third party is saying about the business. We have used references to indicate what has been published for everyone to read. I would want to understand if we are missing anything here. Once again our intention is not to promote business through this portal rather share references of third party articles about the business.

I will be honest in that most people in marketing or creative agencies have great difficulty in editing Wikipedia. It's hard to separate the marketing world from the encyclopedia world, usually because the goals of each are different. For example, press releases, routine announcements, staff interviews, and other primary sources are not acceptable for establishing notability. You are free to make another unblock request to attempt to convince another administrator to unblock you. 331dot (talk) 07:24, 30 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
