On your comment about the winner of the Iran-Iraq war; after few years of war Iran gained back most of the lost areas. Iraq accepted the 598 resolution but Iran continued the war into Iraqi territory (in some areas Iranian territory was still occupied by Iraq.) Iran have claimed later that the reason for doing so was the strategic importance that those areas had and could prevent another Iraqi attack after cease-fire. However the despute over the issue goes on and a lot of people see the whole 8 year of the war a result of greed from both sides which can not declare the defender a winner.
