Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! While we appreciate that you enjoy using Wikipedia, please note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a social network. Wikipedia is not a place to socialize or do things that are not directly related to improving the encyclopedia. Off-topic material may be deleted at any time. This message is not meant to discourage you from editing Wikipedia but rather to remind you that the ultimate goal of this website is to build an encyclopedia. Thank you. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your user subpage at User:Wacek40, and I am concerned that it did not meet Wikipedia's user page guideline. Specifically, your user page contained personal identity and details of a minor which is in violation of Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Protecting_children's_privacy. That information has been removed. Please do not restore that information. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 17:09, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ANI[edit]

Hello, Wacek40. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The discussion is about the topic Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Personal_details_of_a_minor. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 17:17, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I saw the above incident report and came to offer any help I can as an admin. You have a couple of options here.

  • If you want to start a new account, you can go right ahead and do so; no one will give you a hard time about this.
  • You can just carry on using this account. I have checked and I can assure you that no personal information is visible to anyone except Wikipedia administrators.
  • If you don't want to edit Wikipedia at all, you can exercise your "right to vanish" (see WP:RTV for more) which will result in these pages being deleted altogether.
  • If you just want to change your username, you can request that here.

Any questions? Post to my talk page. Regards, SHEFFIELDSTEELTALK 18:00, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I didn't make this clearer. We can't delete the entire account. There's a permanent record of the fact that an account was created (here), and a list of the contributions of the account (here), neither of which I can get rid of. If you want to edit Wikipedia again, you can create a new account and forget about this one, or carry on using this one. If you don't want to edit at all, then you can exercise your right to vanish, but you have to specifically ask for that. SHEFFIELDSTEELTALK 18:42, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
