Amherst College Glee Club founding date[edit]

Hi--do you have a source for the founding date of the Amherst College Glee Club? Their own site, which is the only ref provided on List of collegiate glee clubs, says 1862, not 1865 as per your edit. -Tjarrett (talk) 16:20, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey - I'm the archivist of the Amherst College Glee Club. A group known as the Donizetti Glee Club was founded in 1862 at Amherst, but they were not the group that became the Amherst College Glee Club. The modern glee club was founded separately in 1865. If you can somehow find a copy, the details of its founding are laid out in the Amherst College Graduate's Quarterly Vol. 26, 1937, on page 204. I should probably just have that as the reference. I've been working on getting the Amherst webpage updated, but our tech department is kind of notoriously slow.
Awesome, thanks. I'm the historian of the Virginia Glee Club Alumni & Friends Association, so I get kind of interested by this stuff. We have our own tangled pre-history, with an 1861 glee club preceding the 1871 group that became the modern glee club, so I find it interesting that other clubs have similar histories. -Tjarrett (talk) 13:03, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for March 19[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Amherst College Glee Club, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Charles Cobb (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I adjusted your template to remove the <span/> because that is an HTML error. I wasn't sure what formatting you were attempting to generate, so I just left |data41= as a simple bullet-delimited horizontal list. Let me know if you want to help with other formatting options.
