Rewrite

[edit]

I've noticed a number of things with this re-written page (I didn't see the deleted one, however):

  1. I can't see where the first reference provides a source for the "...is said to be one of the largest..." quote. It's weasley as it is, and should be reworded
  2. "20 minutes drive" is subjective
  3. History section – good, but a few minor tweaks such as conversion templates (I'll do them in a bit)
  4. Inside The Village Market section – not sourced, and I don't know if this adds much to the article. Perhaps a paragraph or two outlining what it is that the village market offers – with citations of course!
  5. It isn't clear whether the Facilities section refers to the market or the hotel – is the hotel a facility of the market, and would it be better under the "Inside the village market" section?

Thanks Cycle for responding to my query. Let me address the points so that i can understand the issues.

  1. How does this sound "The Village Market is one of the largest ..... I want to use http://www.porini.com/tribe.html as the reference.
  2. Will use 6 miles more precise
  3. History not sure what conversion templates is? Explain
  4. Inside The Village Market will remove all the subheadings and have a paragraph with a summary of what the mall offers with citations. And another para on facilities.
  5. Yes i get that feeling too that the pic was on the way. Will put the facilities as the second paragraph of Inside the Village market.
  6. I would appreciate if once the above changes are addressed, can you look into the article before saving or uploading it?

Wamaina (talk) 18:54, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You don't have to ask Cycle~ to move the article into article space; I can do that as soon as Cycle~ says it's OK.
Re porini.com: The problem with that is that it's not a reliable source. Unless you have some reliable information such as a list of the largest ..., it is better to leave out the superlative and just say "a large ...".
Re conversion templates: That's pretty advanced; as a new user, I wouldn't worry about that. Few editors know that. That's why Cycle~ graciously did it already for you. That's the beauty of Wikipedia - we're all working together! — Sebastian 19:20, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sebastian, Thanks for the suggestion. Due to lack of reliable list of malls from Kenya I will drop the largest and use large. I have redone the piece and you or Cycle can look at it here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Wamaina/The_Village_Market.Wamaina (talk) 20:21, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cycle I was wondering if you got time to look at the redone article. Sebastian will move the article as soon as you ok it. Want to move to other projects.Wamaina (talk) 15:39, 4 March 2009 (UTC)Wamaina (talk) 15:25, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion the article is in quite good shape for a first timer. In some respects it has unnecessary detailed information. Feel free to send the article, it should not get deleted. Julius Sahara (talk) 18:27, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Julius, Thanks for your positive comments. I believe it will get better as I embark on doing more articles on Kenyan stuff. I will upload the article after one week from the day of the rewrite. I must remove my hat to you for the work you have done in getting information about Kenya out into the world. I hope to help with many of the areas that I can handle.Wamaina (talk) 16:03, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sebastian or Julius - By the way can you move this article into article space? I didn't see the instructions of uploading the redone article.Wamaina (talk) 18:47, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sebastian~ and Julius~ Wamaina (talk) 05:56, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I moved the article per your request Julius Sahara (talk) 16:16, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Julius~ for moving the article. I will be requiring your help from time to time as I enter articles on various facets of our Kenyan community.41.223.57.74 (talk) 20:02, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Earlier content

[edit]

I noticed that one month before this page was created at User:Wamaina/The Village Market in March 2009, a very similar version was created at User:Gbalachander1/Draft Village market in February 2009. When was the original page created? Where was the original page created? I don't see this page about this mall in the deletion logs. And considering the similarity between the two user drafts, this replication should have originated in that earlier content.
