Hello, Washingtondorian, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

License tagging for File:Odysseus and Polyphemus, Arnold Böcklin, 1986.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Odysseus and Polyphemus, Arnold Böcklin, 1986.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:31, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable sources

[edit]

Hello, Washingtondorian. I've had to revert your addition to Odysseus because the source you used doesn't count as a reliable source for wikipedia content. No author was credited, and it seems anyone at all can upload their work to that website. For wikipedia content, we can only use reliable sources written by peer-acknowledged specialist authors. Please also note that the site you linked to carries a disclaimer of responsibility for possible plagiarism in their articles -- see [1] the sites homepage for those. You're of course welcome to restore the content with support from a reliable source. Regards, Haploidavey (talk) 00:12, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable sources vs original research

[edit]

I just read your note. Please thoroughly read through Wikipedia's policies on original research and editorial opinion and interpretation. For now, I've simply tagged the passage with a request for citation. I'm sure you'll find something to support what you've written, if you look hard enough. I suggest you go to google scholar and search using Odysseus Aeneas. Haploidavey (talk) 00:27, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
