source for photo

Hi,

For your steeljaw photos, could you add a note as to the source of the photos? It seems like you're saying you took them yourself. If this is the case, you could state so on the image page, and change your copyright tag to the "pd-self" tag. If I'm right about the above, pd-self might be clearer than the government tag, which is most often used for photos that were taken from government websites and are easy for other authors to verify. Thanks for uploading Image:Mt Cadillac.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Before you go about with jack-booted accusations re. copyright violations, a polite inquiry might be in order. That way you woul learn that the website (both steeljawscribe.blogspot.com and steeljawscribe.com) in question are my own websites (surprise!) and you would also learn I have been writing about Project Cadillac since 1981 and have developed a fair bit of original source material.

You should make a statement on the article's Talk page to that effect. However you've raised the possibility that much of the article is contrary to WP's policy on Original Research. You need to tie the statements in the article much more closely to the references and to make sure the tone is more neutral. See WP:CITE and WP:NPOV. andy (talk) 07:31, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
