Life Partners Christian Ministries

[edit]

Your own comment explains why I am about to delete the page:

I am trying to get this company more well known

If it is not well-known - not notable now - then it should not have a Wikipedia page until/unless it becomes notable.

Second, trying to make it well-known runs very close to trying to advertise the organization, and Wikipedia is not a venue for advertising. —C.Fred (talk) 17:27, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • There are a couple of issues in play here. First, you've already acknowledged that you have a conflict of interest with the subject. This doesn't bar you from editing on the subject, but it means you must be careful to make sure that any claims about the subject are backed up with independent reliable sources. As a general rule, that means citing articles about the company written in magazines and newspapers. That does not include personal knowledge gained from talks with management or press releases.
That comes back to core issue: Wikipedia articles should be limited to notable subjects. There are two ways to meet the notability hurdle. One is general notability, showing that the subject has gotten extensive coverage in independent sources. The second is specific notability of organizations: winning a major award, being publicly-traded on the New York Stock Exchange, and other criteria listed there. The article, as it existed when I deleted it, did claim notability in either of those categories.
One possibility for right now is to work on the article in user space, i.e., at a page titled User:Wede0554/Life Partners Christian Ministries. The notability rules do not apply in user space (although the blatant advertising rules do). That will give you more of a time window to build the article and add sources. It can then be reviewed by me or another administrator once you think it's up to par; we can provide feedback on what needs improved or, if it meets standards, move it into the main encyclopedia. —C.Fred (talk) 18:04, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Wede0554, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hi, glad to help. You have created this page as an article, not in your user space. Creating it in your user space would involve creating it as your user page, but I would recommend actually creating it here. Clicking this link and creating the page there will create a "Sandbox" page in your user space for you to create the article and get it up to notability guidelines. Make sure the article has reliable and verifiable sources as well. Bmg916Speak 19:03, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, just be aware I may not get back to you right away at times. WP:HELP is also a great tool to use. Also, don't be afraid to look at the style of articles of organizations that may be similar to yours. You can also ask questions or for help at the talk page of WikiProject Organizations a wikiproject dedicated to articles about organizations. Good luck! Bmg916Speak 19:46, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
